Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Jerry Jones told @GaryMyersNY on @880ESPNNewYork that he called the Jets to see if they would be interested in trading for Micah Parsons, and he asked for Quinnen Williams and picks in return. The Jets told Jones they didn’t have the resources to deal. Jones noted that there was just one conversation with the Jets and they weren't willing to meet the asking price. It's interesting to hear this at this point because it seems like every few days there is more fallout from the seismic trade. That's what's going to happen when you have a blockbuster deal of that size involving a generational talent. There wasn't much said about the Jets at the time that the rumors were flying around.
I'd rather they said they didn't want to trade Q, The statement above doesn't look good from Q's perspective imo Of course, if that was what was actually said.
Jerry Jones is getting bad press for not negotiating with Parsons and trading him to a conference rival for so little. He’s trying to save face here. Besides we think the Jets could be picking in the top 10, so a top 10 pick, Quinnen Williams AND additional picks is too much anyway
Generational talent is a bit of a stretch. He's not LT. Reminds me of the Kahlil Mack deal years ago. I'm sure the cowboys called a lot of teams fishing for what they can get for him.
Not having "the resources to deal" could very well mean the guy cannot be replaced. Not concerned about Williams getting the wrong idea. Not concerned about Jerry either.
Wow this is crazy. I think Joe Douglas would have made this trade, or something similar. He seemed to love making big trades. But with WMD and Jermain already on the team, I prefer to keep Quinnen (and our draft picks). Good move turning Jerry down
This would have been the perfect opportunity for Woody Johnson to step in and overrule his FO with a trade mandate. Maybe he really has learned to leave the football decisions to football people on his payroll.
I agree they really have no one to replace quinnen it would weaken the interior of the line. Creating another problem.
They aren't a pass rusher away - this was the right call... its also an honest assessment, they don't have the assets for a team that's trying to build its way out of the cellar...
100% agree... Teams who are right on the edge of the Super Bowl do trades like this. Most assuredly is not the Jets. Hell, we're still trying to figure out if we've got a player in Fields.
