... he cannot carry this WR corp. I love Cotchery (really, I do. I have his autographed jersey hanging on my wall), but the fact of the matter is he simply cannot command or defeat a double team. I like Cotch for the same reasons I liked Chrebet. Both are classic overachievers. Cotchery is not blessed with great size, and is not particularly athletically gifted, but makes up for it with heart and toughness... much like Chrebet did. Hard working, great intangibles, team player, yadda yadda yadda...

I like this kind of player, BUT they are most effective as complements to a more physically imposing force on the opposite side of the field.

I believe we are going to see a lot of circus catches by Cotchery this year, because he will very rarely be open.

Disappointing drop from Davis tonight. Not a good way to make a team, let alone make an impact.

Speaking of the circus! I'm ready for the clown to be our #2. He's a beast and there's no denying that. I don't care what he Twitters, as long as he keeps the DB's honest!

I agree, the clown should be moved up to our #2.

He deserves an extended look against a starting cornerback, I'll give you that.

I love Jerricho he's a blue collar football player but not built to be a #1 in the NFL. We have a bunch of #2s and 3s with no exceptionally talented player in our WR corps. We will acquire a WR with #1 potential either before this season starts or next offseason via trade, FA or the draft. I hope.....

The WR corps is extremely thin. It's a huge weakspot and I really hope the Bowe/Marshall rumors have some truth to them. Adding a legit target would help KC/MS big time.

Gruden was hinting at the Jets making a trade for WR often tonight. I'm sure he still has insiders and knows something... I hope it's true, the Jets really do need a true #1 WR (Marshall / Crabtree anyone?).

maybe they should address it in next year's draft. why not sign jones and see if he can start? and you never know. clowney could be starting material.

If you're referring to Matt Jones, he blows. Clowney could be starting material, but more than likely he's a one trick pony and teams will eventually catch on to that... not to mention he's a known injury high-risk.

If you move a 1st for Marshall, you're getting a player who is a proven commodity at a position of extreme need and is well worth his spot, where as you're not really sure what you're getting out of next year's draft spot. Also, if Marshall allows us to win more games than we would've without him, the pick we trade away will be less valuable, so we win that deal anyway.

It's a harder sell for Crabtree since he's an unproven rookie, but he's top 10 pick talent... Again, if we win more games with him than without him, the value of the pick we trade goes down, and value of what we got on the deal is good.

The Jets offense sorely needs a weapon that teams need to focus on. Having a true #1 with talent (not Matt Jones) will cause teams to back off, which will open lanes for our running backs. That's a good thing considering we're going to be a run-first team.

i think the WR talk is over-rated. I mean look at the Ravens, Jags, Vikings, Giants, Dolfags, etc. All solid teams with good running games and strong defenses that win games without having a true #1 WR. I think our running game can be as good as all those teams (except the Vikings) and our defense can be one of the best in the league.

Cotch is a solid football player but hes built to be a great #2 not #1. He lacks the speed and explosiveness. We basically have a #2 as a #1 and a bunch of #3's... An brad smith shouldnt be nowhere near our receiving core.

Clowney stepping up or signing a guy like Matt Jones only puts a band aid on a wound that needs surgery. Its THAT bad. We have one of the worst WRs corps in the NFL. Cotchery is going to get shut down often this season for reasons stated earlier.

John Clayton reported tonight the Broncos are in a tough spot and would move him for a 1st n 4th picks. I think its something to definitely look into. The only thing I'm worried about is his off field issues but I'd still pull the trigger because of how dominant he is.

The Ravens were looking to upgrade there WRs corps, along with the Giants who's passing game will take a huge step back without Burress. The Jags signed Torry Holt. Vikings and every team above have a better WR corps than us or have attempted to upgrade it this past offseason. Only the Dolfags are worse than us.

If ever they plan to trade for an impact WR, this would be the week to do it.

wouldn't surprise me at all to see two things happen this week:

    1. leon signs a long-term deal

1a. the jets wise up about their pitiful WR situation and bring in a vet.

Cotchery isn't great... That's the whole point.... He's not great. He's a decent #2 receiver. Nothing less,,, nothing more.

Matt Jones wouldn't know what a decent route was if you tattooed one on his forehead and put mirrors up all over his house.
