Jerricho Cotchery should be our #2 receiver this season. Herm was against starting young players unless he had absolutly no choice. Cotchery deserves to get a shot this season, because i think that he has a lot of promise. CAREER NUMBERS: rec: 25 yds: 311 avg: 12.5 TDs: 0 lng: 45 In college:
i dont agree with herm not starting young players. 2 years ago he started erik coleman and last year rhodes, after a few games that is...but i agree cotchery should get more looks but still be atleast #3 no lower or higher
He proved in 2004 (when he was healthy and had a decent QB), that he could be a very solid #2 receiver with the ability to run slants and run over the middle... Alot of people want to blame him for alot of crap last season, but the truth of the matter is McCareins was playing hurt all year playing with FIVE different QB's...
slants & over the middle.. sounds like what a receiver in the slot should do a lot of (as a 3rd receiver)
He hasn't been thrown out there nearly enough to prove it from where I'm sitting. He can't be blamed for lack of continued opportunity in a lost season.
Cotchery is not quick enough to be a #2 in my opinion. McCareins had an awful season last yr playing INJURED. Let's see what he does this year. Cotchery hasn't proven he should be #2.
He wasn't blaming him. Hydro simply said he hasn't proven anything to him or Dwalsh (the guy with the idea) to make him a #2 WR...
if he was as good as yall over hype him... he would have done something by now with the chances he got. guy hasnt even proven himself yo be a #3 wr yet muchless a #2
I agree whole heartedly...McCareins was injured, anyone with half a brain would have put that into consideration before bashing him... Cotchery fits the mold of a #3 WR pretty damn well...
Cotchery and McCareins will battle it out in camp for #2. I think McCareins can ressurect his career under new managment and I also think Cotch can reach a new level with a new system as well. I like Cotch alot he should def. be used more.
Sorry guys, but being injured does not mean that you can drop balls in your hands and then get shoved and it plops out. Being injured means that he was slowed down a bit, which really isn't a problem; he was never a deep threat anyway. He had a terrible campaign, but I'm willing to be he can recover. With that being said, I still think we'll see our fair share of combinations between our top three receivers. We STILL don't have a deep threat though. Regardless of what people say about Coles, he's not going to run by anyone. He's quick, and sneaky fast; not downfield fast though.
Not worth being a slot wr? Are you kidding me. You must not have watched many games last year, Cotchery was one of the very few brightspots we had on offense last year. I think the guy will have a solid career as a #3 possibly even a #2 later on.
He'll get a shot just like anyone else on the team, if he does good then he will get the spot he deserves.
I don't get the obsession with Cotchery. He has shown nothing in the Pros. Yeah he had a great college career, but I think that had a lot to do with his rapport with Rivers. Similar to Coles and Pennington.
I think McCareins will be given one more chance to prove himself. Cotchery will be the slot reciever for sure and if McCareins fails to make an impact, I think Cotchery will be the starting #2 wideout in 07.
