http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4581777 If I was a Titans fan, I wouldn't like this very much. If Rex came out wearing a Brady jersey one day, I think there'd be a lot of negative reaction. And he says "I just wanted to feel like a winner." That's a little insulting to your fans, no? If you want to feel like a winner, then why don't you...win? Thoughts?
He's gonna get fired twice on black monday. They're gonna fire him, call him 5 minutes later say we're sorry set up a press conference to clear up the misunderstanding then fire him again in front of everybody It'd be well deserved too, fuckin peckerhead
It was a chsrity event. People get bent out of shape over nothing. He can coach my team anytime (after Belichik retires).
Did he have to wear a Colts jersey to the charity event? He couldn't have just worn a suit or something that isn't...you know...a fuckin Colts jersey?
i totally agree. I would completely abandon Rex if i ever saw him wearing a Pats or Fins jersey. At first when I heard about this I thought it was funny, but certainly not from a Titans fan's perspective. Even if you're 0-6 it is inexcusable to essentially call yourself a loser. Sure, the Titans don't appear playoff bound, but that doesn't mean that you just give up on the season 6 weeks in. This might be Fisher's last year, maybe that's what he wants.
I like it. He has a team that was 13-3 last year and is playing like absolute shit. He's been coaching long enough with enough success that I find it hard to believe he's doing a bad job preparing the team this year as opposed to last year. Hopefully he intended this as a jab at his team, as a way to motivate them. The game Sunday sure looked like that team has no more pride or desire, and this might be a way to wake that up.
Oh God, people who are upset about this need to relax. He probably did it to bring attention to the charity, which is exactly what happened. He's going out there and he's showing that he's not scared about losing his job. He's confident enough to pull a stunt like this, and I think that says a lot about him.
it's inexcusable, IMO.....unless it was done as a joke. But I saw the clip on NFLTA, and if I was a Titans fan, I'd be pissed. if Rex came out wearing a Tom Brady jersey at some event and told the masses he felt like a winner for wearing it......we'd all be seeing red
He was trying to motivate the team, I think. As a fan of the Titans, I woulda been PISSED, but I think he's more worried about his players' performances rather than what the fan base thinks.
Bingo. And anyone who would say that they wouldn't want him as the coach of their team as a result of this doesn't seem to understand that he is the second winningest active coach in the NFL.
Naturally, much ado is being made of this as well... it was a joke at a charity event. Of course Titan fans will be all pissed off about it... as would Jets fan, or Steeler fans, or <insert NFL fanbase here> fans... and it really is an over-reaction. Sometimes you just need to laugh a little at yourselves. It is only a game.
Fischer clearly wants to get fired from Tennnesee and then sign somewhere else...More profit for the guy
I agree. It's better than that Houston Oilers sweatshirt they gave him to wear for our game, from the NFL Homeless Collection.
I think it looks really bad from a fan's point of view. Picture RR wearing a Dolphins or Pats jersey. WTF? I'd be a little pissed if I was a Titan fan, regardless of charity event or not.
Fischer lives in Nashville and has for a long time. I'll guarantee you that he doesn't want to uproot his family and move at this point. He's also probably the most-respected NFL head coach among his peers and by the ownership as a whole. Moving on under a cloud would be a very bad thing for him. He wants to right the ship and then figure out what to do about QB next year.
one of the best coaches in the NFL in the last 20 yrs. makes a joke at a charity event where he was hosting, and introducing Tony Dungy. I think some people forget the point of being a host at a charity event is to be lively get the crowd interested and get them to lighten up and open up their wallets. and Jets fans complaining, we know they dont make Jersey's in his size so it would never happen.
