I. Re-Signings SS | Abram Elam PK | Jay Feely DL | C.J. Mosley CB | Hank Poteat FB | Tony Richardson LB | Cody Spencer TE | Bubba Franks P | Reggie Hodges II. Free Agents Signings ILB | Kevin Burnett (3 years, 8.5 million): Burnett is a young, very athletic LB from the Cowboys that has the ability to guard TEs and RBs over the middle. He would come in and start next to David Harris. He could be a hidden gem this off-season and make a big impact starting this season. CB | Chris McAllister (2 years, 5 million): I believe McAllister will realize that he is not going to get many offers on this market and he will go with the comfort of his old DC, Rex Ryan. We can get him much cheaper than cornerbacks like Bartell, Bodden, or McFadden. I think Lowery can still turn into something, and we only need a guy for a season or two until we can find somebody younger and cheaper to step in (hopefully this will be Lowery). McAllister will provide invaluable experience and solid play to this young secondary. DE | Igor Olshansky (4 years, 22 million): Olshansky has a lot of promise as a 3-4 DE and has the ability to be a dominant one if we can coach him up correctly. Ellis, Olshansky, Coleman and Mosley should be more than adequate at that position this year, RG | Chris Kemoeatu (3 years, 7.5 million): There are not many good OGs in free agency this year. After dropping Brandon Moore, we must go out and sign a cheaper guard. Kemoeatu is a mauler at 340+ pounds who started every game at LG for the Steelers last season. We will throw good money at him (still less than Moore though) and get a solid guard on this offensive line. WR | Bryant Johnson (3 years, 9 million): An extremely athletic, 6-3, WR who is bound to help us out on the offensive side. He was a great #3 WR for the Cardinals behind Boldin and Fitzgerald, and although he did not do quite as well as expected last year with SF, he was still very solid. He had some injury problems in the beginning but came on strong at the end of the season and showed his true colors. This could be a great, cheap, impact signing. QB | Byron Leftwich (2 years, 4 million): A solid QB who had some good years, competing with Clemens and Ratliff for a starting job. III. NFL DRAFT *Trade our first and fifth round picks to the Minnesota Vikings for their first and third round picks. Vikings get Josh Freeman away from all of their competitors, we get an extra pick* 1st Round: S | Sean Smith | Utah: This pick is going to be a bit controversial. Everybody wants us to get an offensive playmaker here but I do not think Nicks, Britt, DHB or Maclin, are really worth first round picks. A RB might be a possibility, but we have too many needs to use our first rounder on that position. We need to build a strong defense and with Revis, Lowery, Smith and Rhodes to play in the secondary for years along with Harris, hopefully Gholston, Pace, and hopefully Olshansky, we could be very dominant for years to come. Smith fits in perfectly into our defense. He is very athletic and a ballhawker, who can also hit hard. Should fit in perfectly next to Rhodes, and if Lowery does not work out, he can also play some corner. I think he is going to be one of the big steals of this draft. A ballhawking, 6-4, 215, 4.5 40, safety could be deadly. 2nd Round: WR | Brian Robiskie | Ohio State: Here is where we get our offensive playmaker. Although he is not a burner like some of us want, he might be the best all-around WR in this draft. He has a wonderful combination of size and speed and is a very polished WR coming out of the draft. Will get a lot of playing time right out of the gate and may even battle Bryant Johnson for the starting role. 3rd Round: NT | Chris Baker | Hampton: There are a good NTs in this draft, and Chris Baker might be the one with the most potential. He is 6-2 and weighed in at 325 pounds at the combine, along with running a 5.02 40. We do not need him to be an impact player right away and he is going to learn a lot under Jenkins for the next year or two. He has all the intangibles to be our NT of the future. 3rd Round: OL | Fenuki Tupou | Oregon: A big OL who can play guard and tackle. He provides great depth for us on the O-line, which we need desperately, and could be groomed to take over for Woody in a couple of years. 4th Round: ILB | Daniel Holtzclaw | Eastern Michigan: An ILB that is always around the ball, provides solid depth for our LB corps. He is a good tackler and good in coverage for his size too. 6th Round: FB | Brannan Southerland | Georgia: The best blocking FB in the draft and a solid runner too. Probably a practice squad guy, but should be able to take over for Tony Richardson in a year, and would do great learning under him this season. He is a very similar fullback to Richardson. 7th Round: CB | Wopamo Osaisai | Stanford: Solid player for Stanford, very fast..... your draft is great, but some of the contracts you ask these players to sign will have their poo on them in disgust. Great draft by the way. Love the 1st and 2nd rounds.
yeah no one is really a quality FA, most are more like backups (which is ok) but still the draft is actually pretty good it looks like you captialize on a lot of good players who are "under the radar".
