I am not an avid CFB fan, so can one of you SEC guys explain why Beckham has the 1st rd grade and Landry is graded lower?

    Beckham - REC 59 YDS 1152 AVG 19.5 TD 8
    Landry - REC 77 YDS 1193 AVG 15.2 TD 10

From the little I've read, Beckham is also a good KR/PR, but Landry looks like he has great hands and seems to be the better of the two while in traffic, which I think is more important in the NFL. I hope Idzik takes a long look at this guy and has the chance to grab him in round 2/3.

Is Beckham really that much better?

I personally like Landry better myself, but I don't see either being around in the 3rd

    Both are great players.

I like Beckham slightly better, but that's just my opinion.

Beckham is better stretching the field and is an excellent returner, I remember him returning a missed field goal for a TD.

Beckham doesn't have bad hands, but Jarvis seems to make big, tough catches in crunch time.

I'd love to have either player in Green & White.

There are so many good WRs on the radar the 1st 3 Rounds.

Give me Beckham everyday of the week. The dude is a stud. Id honestly be happy with him in the 1st. Explosive, great hands, great body control, solid routes, dynamic athlete and after the catch. Reminds me of a bigger Steve Smith in the way he attacks the ball in the air. I could see him being a better pro than Marqise Lee who is talked about a hell of a lot more.

Landry is pretty damn good himself. Much different player though- more of a possession receiver, but great reliable hands. Id be happy with him in the 2nd, would love him in the 3rd.

I can't really quantify why I think Beckham is better. That's just my impression from having seen them play 4-5 games. Maybe it's because he has better speed and has been a returner. I thought Beckham was bigger, but if the stats are true, then Landry is actually an inch taller (6'1" vs 6'0") and eight pounds heavier (195 vs 187). Looking at the stats, Beckham has run the ball a few times whereas Landry hasn't. Both had a big jump in the number of TDs they scored this season. Part of which can be attributed to Mettenberger and better QB play.

I think Beckham may have the potential to develop into a true #1 WR.

I like Landry a lot, and while I think he may have slightly better hands than Beckham, he doesn't have the speed, moves, etc. to become a #1 in the NFL. I may be wrong, but I see him more as a possession type of receiver. I think he can become one of the better #2 WRs in the league and would love to have him on the Jets. One concern I have with Landry is he going to be able to get separation in the NFL? He seems to be pretty smart and to have a knack for finding open spots in college, but the NFL is different. Jordan Matthews has supposedly been really struggling in Sr. Bowl practices. That has been a big surprise to me. If Landry isn't appreciably faster than Matthews, at 2-3" shorter, he could have an even tougher time getting open in the NFL.

I think ultimately it may be the speed. That has been something the Jets have lacked, with the exception of Hill, and he hasn't been able to stay healthy or catch the ball with any consistency.

I'll leave it to some of the more knowledgeable college football and draft fanatics to give a better explanation.

jarvis landry is my man crush on this years draft. he's exactly what we need, a true football player that isn't afraid of contact. he attacks the ball in the air and has amazing hands. he does an amazing job at catching the ball in traffic

beckham is also really good. he can stretch the field and is more of a deep threat than anything. both are good at what they do, it just depends on what you want really

They are both great. I think Beckham is rated higher because of his return game and his ability to stretch the field.

Maybe we can snag the LSU receivers Beckham and Landry in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Use the 1st round for the best available TE, or the top rated defensive player on our board.

They really are both very good so a tough call. Beckham is silky smooth and has better speed. However Landry makes so many highlight reel catches and tough grabs. Landry is talented and has that edge about him that I like in a WR. As has been said I'd be happy with either of them.

Here we go as the resident LSU fan

Both players were very good in their time at LSU

Beckham is absolutely the more explosive player of the two. By his junior year the Tigers were trying many ways to get him the ball. There is no doubt he has the speed and quickness to be a very good receiver, probably not elite speed but can get down field.

It should also be noted that Beckham and Landry had their most productive season last year with ex Raven O Coordinator Cam Cameron as his coach, which translates well to the NFL.

What concerns me about Beckham is his use and ball skills. The drops are less of a problem because he seemed to have fix them last season. However, he was still has some issues with body control, more specifically he will sometimes leave his feet for no apparent reason. Also, Beckham spent most of the season lined up on the outside and was not used over the middle which could mean he has little value as a slot receiver.

Most of Beckham's issues are the opposite of Landry. Landry is the guy going over the middle and making physical plays. He has great concentration and very good body control (see his TD catch against Bama from 2012), he wasnt the tallest but he was certainly the most physical. Landry was also a special teams player his freshman year.

Physically, Landry has decent quickness but is not the same burner that Beckham is. Even against SEC competition Landry was still very productive with almost 1200 yards.

Both guys are going to be awesome in the NFL, it really depends what you are looking for.

I love how Landry catches the ball, especially in tight coverage. I would love him on the Jets.

Landry is absolutely the guy I'd love for the Jets to draft...he has huge hands...he's more of a possession type WR...don't get me wrong, he has some speed but he's not the burner that Odell is.

  13. I like Odell alot.He brings alittle bit of everything the Jets need. Size, speed & explosion. I also like that he can produce as a returner while he rounds out his game early.

Landry reminds me of Jericho Cotchery and Beckham reminds me of a taller Steve Smith... FWIW

I haven't seen much of Beckham to be honest but I liked what I saw of Landry.

I thought Odell Beckham was the most impressive WR yesterday (outside of Watkins). He showed great speed and hands. He was a top performer in the 40, SS & 3 cone. He also has long arms and big hands. When he was doing the guantlet you could barely here the ball hitting his hands. Very impressive.

I would have no problem with this guy at #18 at this point.
