Asking since I read that 2 teams have a 3rd rd grade on him...

    Pros:
    1) Talent-wise it would be a steal
    2) Rex loves CBs
    3) It might allow Wilson to move to FS (some kind of like that idea)

    Cons:
    1) Kid is dumb as soup (not a bad guy from what I read but lot's of stupid decisions with weed and women)
    2) Not really an area of need? (unless you think this allows someone to move to FS)
    3) nickel-CB only @ 5'10" ?

So if he's there what do you say? I say pass... this team already has enough question marks character-wise. I can see him and Cro going out impregnating all of NYC.
They liken him to Hernandez and Harvin in terns of doing stupid stuff @ Florida but those two guys didn't get kicked off the team. Nor do they have 3 kids with 4 different women.

I'd say Yes, but I mean there would have to be a lot of players Id want in round two off the board.

Yes you have to take him.

If Cromartie can move to FS then we have Cromartie and Landry at safety with Revis, Wilson, and Jenkins. Wilson really played well last year and people overlook that, he may be poised for a breakout season if given enough playing time.

We could try to move Kyle Wilson to free safety but idk if that's a good fit for him.

OR we could dangle Cromartie in a trade for an OLB. Maybe the Lions would swap Cliff Avril for Cromartie and that would be a dream trade come true. Same goes for the Broncos and Elvis Dumervil if they feel they can get a DE like Perry in the 1st.

I chose beer because I don't agree with the choices...and I like beer. Actually, I would have chosen beer regardless. Anyway, I wouldnt take him 2nd round only because we have glaring needs and we already went talent at CB over need with Wilson. If he were there @ the 3rd, no way would I pass on him.

No, not for the Jets; we have too many other holes and CB is the last thing we need to draft early. But for another team, I think Jenkins would be a big steal in the second.

The one position I would not consider at all is CB, combine that with Jenkins being a knucklehead and there is no chance I'm taking this kid in 1st two rounds. Cromartie is not a FS, he is not moving to FS, I would take Kirkpatrick to play FS in the 1st before I would take Jenkins in the 2nd.

He just may end up being a steal for some team, I don't think he is hopeless with his character concerns at all but Jets are not the team to take that chance given the position being set and other important needs.

  8. Steinburg said that scouts think he can be moved to free safety. I watched alot of him senior bowl week in practices...he has fantastic closing speed & ball skills. He's also a pretty good tackler.

Downside? He needs to learn discipline(tends to jump on routes) on and off the field.

Pure football talent wise? He's a top 15 guy.

agreed here. The Jets have no need for him, so why take that risk? Especially when you can get a solid player in the middle of the round thats a good fit at a position of need.

I don't think he's bright enough to stay out of trouble, especially in NY.

    Therefore, I clearly chose beer.

for him to fall that far there would need to be real red flags going up about him and given that CB is probably our area of least need I wouldnt spend our 2nd round pick on him when we have so many actual needs to fill.

Ive read that some GM’s and scouts have him as a 3rd rounder...

And some of those grades were based solely on play.

weird. Ourlads (who I always find very good) have him ranked as their 36th best player.

When a top 20 talent falls to the 2nd round, you pretty much have to take him IMO.

Yeah he's an idiot, but do you guys realize the majority of college players and a lot of pro players smoke weed? It's not that big a deal lol...

The kids worry me more tbh, then again Cromartie has made it work so idk.

If were going DB in round 2, id rather go Harrison Smith or Trumaine Johnson due to fit.

Why would the Jets spend a 2nd round pick on a CB when they have Revis, Cromartie and Wilson under contract already and the guy they'd be picking is a disaster waiting to happen?
