This guy will be there at 17, is he worth it? We could definitely use a coverage LB and he fits that bill. I know he isn't that big, but I think we need to add speed to the LB position.

Don't know much about him except for the last three seasons I could have sworn I saw him on many draft boards in the top ten, and with each passing year he goes further down. I just don't know how good he is. He might be more of an intangibles guy than dominant athelete.

He also skipped the Senior Bowl
Don't know how much weight that holds, but he was absent from it.
They say some avoid for fear of being exposed
Don't know if that is true or not

Apparently, JL had the flu so he dropped out of the Senior Bowl.

If you want to talk about being exposed then look at Matt Stafford - he's supposedly not going to work out at the combine.

He'll only workout one time, at UGA, for pro scouts.

I think he'd be over-matched in the 3-4 - he'd have to play inside and NFL sized blockers would punish him over and over again.

He fits best into a 4-3 scheme - he'll probably be drafted in the first somewhere between 15-25.

I used to think Cushing was too risky for a first round pick due to injuries and stuff, but now I'm starting to think he's the least risky LB likely to be there at the 17th pick due to his versatility. And it would be nice to have a LB who can play more than one position because our LB depth is crap. When David Harris got hurt they put Bowens, a former NFL DE at ILB. This says a lot about our backup ILBs. Get Cushing and he will likely be used the way he was used at SC, playing a different position almost every year. While Laurinatis does seem the better fit in the sense that an ILB who can cover is the greatest need among the front 7, Laurinatis seems to have a lot of question marks around him for someone to take him in the mid first round.

JL would be good cuz of his coverage skills..he was my favorite prospect for this year...unless we get a Lb in free agency i would take him at 17 or cushing

    Very myopic attitude!!!

I'm not an OSU fan or apologized, but to lump all OSU player's "they suck" is moronic.

Why don't you post with some thought and explanation then just critizing an entire program.

If Malcolm Jenkins is around at 17, and the Jets don't pick him...my head will explode.

    Very moronic post.

I love Jenkins, but your comment may come true. If Jenkins doesn't run well at OSU's pro day, he's going to fall to the Mid-Teens. Jenkins isn't the most Fleet-Footed CB in this draft, and a slow time will drop his stock. Jenkin's is smart, physical and plays the run better than most CB's in this draft. In fact, some scouts project MJ as a safety in the Pros.
