32 years old and has been injury plagued the last couple of years, I guess it was coming. http://www.jaguars.com/news/article.aspx?id=6093
I wouldn't be surprised to see new England bring him in for a try out, they still have money under the cap to do it, and it may put a band aid on the Assante Samuel situation.
It doesn't make any sense. Harrison and Darius play the same position and are the same type of player. Signing an aging safety with a serious ankle injury would just exacerbate the situation.
I understand what he'd bring to the table from the Raiders end, if he comes cheap... He'd be a tough, emotional leader for a very young/talented defense. But what about for Darius? There's no way he starts over Schwiegert or Huff, and I could see him finding a starting job somewhere else(and not get caught up in a rebuilding process). I wouldnt be surprised to see a team like KC make a run at him. They dont have much at safety(Wesley is serviceable at best) and he seems to be the kind of vet DB that Herm falls in love w..
Here is the reason why Donovin darius makes sense. Raiders are looking to shore up their run defense, and are looking for a more physical presence at SS. (let Michael Huff move to FS - better suited to play) Its no accident that Raiders drafted Eric Frampton and moved Darnel Bing back to safety. (want a player to knock the snot out of someone) Donovin darius would probably replace M Huff at ss , M huff would replace S schweigert at FS. Raiders want a more reliable tackler than schweigert ,on the running downs. Schweigert would come in on passing downs. Donovin darius being a seasoning veteran not going to have as long a learning curve ,as Bing and frampton.
