Jerry Hughes? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Also, Ryan Mathews to the Colts makes absolutely no sense. Did you forget about Donald Brown?
Give me Cody at the end of the first. give him the Kris Jenkins contract and he'll always keep his weight down.
If Donald Brown was anything more than RB depth he would have started over that scrub Joseph Addai, and I'm sure you know the normal rookie rules never applies to RB's, if they're any good they can excel right away So IMO if the Colts have a shot to draft Ryan Mathews they should do it, because he is feature back material and they DO NOT have a feature back on their roster Again, if Donlad Brown was a feature back we would already know it JMO
I guess that's where our opinions differ. Joseph Addai isn't a scrub in my book. He knows how to play in a Peyton Manning offense, so he's a pretty good fit on that team. Drafting running backs in back-to-back years just doesn't make sense for a team that needs defensive help. Donald Brown wasn't drafted to be a feature back. He was drafted to play in a RBBC with Addai.
Im sorry but there is no way Mike Iupati is going to go number 11 Also I dont know why the Giants would draft Dan Williams over Brian Price who is probably much better suited for the giants
Addai would be nothing if it weren't for Peyton and the stretch play. I have a hard time believing he could start for many other teams. He's a change of pace back at best for most teams. I will give him some credit, he limits mistakes. He knows the offense so he is a very valuable part of the Colts team, but he lacks much value to any other teams around the league.
I agree. I like Mike Iupati, but he isn't as versatile as I thought. Teams just don't take guard prospects that high. Brian Price is very underrated around here. He's the third rated defensive tackle on my board behind Suh and McCoy.
Addai's most important aspect does not show up in his stats, he is an excellent pass blocker, when you're in the Colts offense that is a very important skill to have.
I think I'd rather take Odrick or Cody here than Hughes. We have enough DE/OLBs (especially true if we do end up getting Adalius Thomas) and could use more depth on our aging D-line.
I agree with you here. I think Addai is vastly underrated though. Joseph Addai fits into that system and plays his role perfectly. He's a hell of a pass blocker...maybe the best in the league.
Same Here, E, I have Price slightly ahead of Dan Williams as well I struggled with that pick and almost slotted Price to the Giants instead, but I settled on Williams because the Giants had a hard time stopping the run last year and Williams is the mountain-man run stuffer with Price is the penetrator
Even if he had played his career at Guard and had potential to play tackle, those guys tend not to go in the top 15. I mean a Max Unger or Alex Mack didnt go until the late first round or latter
I'm not down with the Hughes pick, Jabba....no disrespect. Not with players like Cody and McCourty still on the board.
Well, Max Unger and Alex Mack are centers. We drafted the best center in the league at the very end of the first a few years ago. Steve Hutchinson is one of the best guard prospects ever, and he was drafted at 17. Interior linemen just don't have high value.
I agree OG's normally do not go that high and the smart money says Iupati won't either, but IMO he's a better OG prospect than Mack or Unger and I expect him to go higher than they did. I mean he's not John Hannah so he's not going in the TOP 5, but he is a dominant OG and I think he's going in the TOP half (16) of the draft
Hutch is a good comparison Obviously not what we know he is now, but the way he was viewed in that draft, I think Iupati is viewed pretty much the same ... dominant OG, but not the way John Hannah was viewed ... Hannah went in the TOP 5, but that's because he was viewed as a virtual can't miss HOF caliber OG barring injuries, sort of the way Elway was viewed as a QB prospect Hutch was viewed as an All-Pro caliber OG and I think Iupati is being viewed in that context as well
I'm not so sure about that. Steve Hutchinson was absolutely dominant while playing for and against top talent. Mike Iupati was great in the WAC, but he was blocking incredibly undersized linemen. Don't get me wrong, Iupati IS the best guard prospect in this draft, and I think he has a ton of potential...but he's not the same type of prospect as Steve Hutchinson.
Yes, but only if he's the best player available. For that to happen players like Kyle Wilson, Brandon Graham, and Ryan Mathews have to be off the board. I'd much rather grab a more versatile defensive lineman like UNC's Cam Thomas at the end of the second, but Cody is the best pure nose tackle in a long time.
