Being a Michigan fan i have watched this kid grow over the years. He has incredible arm talent and uses his legs as part of his arsenal. I think he would look real good in green. What are some thoughts about him? He doesn't get the love like Maye and Williams so he can be had later in the draft
Haven’t watched closely on him though he s def look like he has great football IQ, recognizing defenses and making quick/accurate throws. I heard he s being compared to Andrew Luck but I think he lacks build imo. not a 1st round pick for the Jets imo even if they trade their high first round pick for extra picks.
For a team as run dominant as Michigan, you wonder why they don’t let him air it out. Talent? Skill? Scheme? Not great stats for a so called top 15 prospect. Seems like a good prospect though. The kind of kid you trade back for a kings ransom and hope he develops.
I think he’s a bit of a prisoner of his own situation. He has the best offensive line and defense in the league. I don’t think they ran a pass in the second half against Penn State. For that reason, he’s a wild card and very hard to project. Decent NFL arm and good enough speed to pickup some first downs. They rave about his 4.4 potential 40 but he just doesn’t look fast like that on the field. If he declares he’d be worth a 3rd or 4th round flyer for a team to put on the bench for a couple years and see what they can develop out of him. For scary reference, he has 124 less college pass attempts than Zach Wilson.
He hasn't put up the numbers of many of the top QBs coming out. That may be because Michigan relied on the run more, but in the pros you have to be able to throw the ball. I hate to say this but he reminds me of a former Michigan QB with a similar height and build who got drafted in the 6th round and turned out pretty good. If he's still there in the 6th round, grab him!
I was under the impression that Harbaugh didn't give him sufficient chance to drop back and read the defense. True, college head coaches are now in the win business just like the NFL coaches, but I didn't see McCarthy making pre-snap reads and other things a well-qualified drop back passers should do. If he had a sufficient processing speed (and the capacity to make the right decision in a nick of time) then I don't think Harbaugh would have held him back like he has all year long. I am wary - to me he looks like a Zach Wilson 2.0, with weaker arm.
If we had found a way to get, Harbaugh. If he signed off on It. Yeah. That’s obviously not happening. So… I think he Is too much of a project for this piss poor coaching staff to even truly consider.
