Love him, but he was pretty ineffective after the first drive. Couple of huge drops and he couldn't get a first down when we needed it last drive. That was frustrating
He is a battering ram. The plays that were called had the wrong personal for it. Trying to fit a square into a round hole
The first drop was brutal, the second one was inconsequential because it would have been a tackle for loss anyway and Decker was wide open down the field.
If I've got a 3rd and 2 for the game I'm not resting my fate on the odds of Chris Ivory catching a football. I'm also not punting on the ensuing 4th down.
The Ivory drop with an open field was tough but, it's hard to fault him he's been our entire rushing strength this season.
He had 2 drops. One was an awful throw by Geno. The other was on him, BUT I don't think he was getting the first down anyway. Moose pointed out a great thing on air. Geno completely didn't even see a wide open Decker. Would have kept the drive going. Geno is a huge problem, guys.
That was absolutely maddening. It's like Geno was participating in some Olympic event, run, stop, throw and Decker is wide open, very frustrating.
Geno went for the conversion to move the chains, why take a chance on Decker when you have timeouts and a decent amount of clock left on 3rd down. Anyway Ivory has never been known for being a pass catcher, why Marty insists on having him there is beyond me. He's a strict running back to fight for YPC.
I honestly don't know how anyone could come out of this game with anything positive to say about anybody. we lost and will continue to do so until we make major changes on this team from top to bottom. did ivory play well? yes on certain occasions, but he is certainly not good enough for a thread like this at the moment. sorry.
The the drops were a bummer but it's hard to shit on him for it. Guy had 10 catches his whole career before this year, now all of a sudden MM thinks he's Matt Forte.
He's been the checkdown option for numerous plays this year man. He's been setup to catch the ball on the sidelines, as shown quite a bit in this game.
Being a check down is not a pass catching back. He's blocking and coming out in case Geno needs an emergency out. In your theory Ivory should never be in the game unless he's running the ball or just blocking and not moving.
I don't understand how you play in the NFL, the fucking NFL, and can't catch a simple lob pass in the flats.
With the lack of separation by our WRs, yes the checkdown targets sees passes which is why Geno's turned to Ivory and Ivory has not consistently hauled passes down dating back to last season. We should have Chris Johnson out there for those plays, He's a great goal line back and a good running back but he stinks in blitz pickup, in pass protection and has inconsistent hands.
He should have been able to catch that past pass… hes not a receiving back, but damn, thats an easy grab if you're an NFL PLAYER. A shame, because he had a great game otherwise, the best O weapon really.
