Everyone is so emotional. It's simple. We don't have a NFL QB on the roster. Belichick does not either - and guess what his record is over the last 4 years. 27-33. Losing record. Suddenly he forgot how to win games right as a HC? This is JD and Woody's fault. You have to give your HC a NFL QB. The OLine injuries only further expose how bad the QB situation is. Come at me!
We have no QB because we have no Leadership that knows how to build a roster or how to use said roster. JD created this roster which is light on OLine talent but has tripled down on Zack Wilson because He can't admit he fucked up the pick. Even if we had a NFL QB on the roster, JD has gone dumpster diving or raiding the NFL retirement home for OL talent and it shows in the lack of protection for the passing game or blocking for the running game. Its far more than not having a NFL QB. Its not having a NFL GM, HC, OC, OL and lastly, QB not named Rodgers.
I disagree with the HC situation. The HC coaches the personnel he is provided. We're #8 in draft order, have played Eagles, KC, Cowboys, Chargers, Miami, Bills twice – who all have high quality NFL QBs. That's seven games you really cannot win because you don't have a NFL QB on the roster – based on the schedule. Of course we got two flukey wins. We beat the Bills in OT and Eagles - but we quickly reverted back to what we are without a NFL QB – and gave back those wins with losses to the Raiders and the Patriots. So that's 7 losses because we don't have a NFL QB. Our record is 4-7. That's it. Like I said very simple. Take a step back and Let's all of us stop complaining. Eagles, KC, Cowboys, Chargers, Miami and Bills (2x) beat us every time because they have a significantly better QB situation. And we got two very lucky wins against good teams because our defense came up with like 3-4 INTs each game. Everyone RELAX. We simply need a good QB to start for us.
We don't have an NFL QB on the roster because our GM is absolutely incompetent and has ignored the position because his ego can't admit that he drafted one of the biggest busts of all time at that position. Aside from that one draft, Douglas has swung and missed far more than he's made contact with these draft picks. Just because he's better than the absolute awfulness that came before him doesn't mean that he should be given a pass for being piss poor at his job.
Man this has really gotten bad. I thought Boyle might at least be a little bit of a spark but what a disaster. Has a hail mary in the end zone ever been returned for a TD the other way in NFL history? This Jets season reminds me of a fighter thats just knocked senseless, beaten, and has no chance. But there is like 7 more rounds left in the fight and nobody will stop it. We need a little league mercy rule.
I was in the middle of the family Tgiving dinner and the TV was on with no sound. I couldn't even believe what I was watching. The non Jets fans in the family thought it was hilarious so at least some entertainment was provided I guess.
Here's the plan... Get Rodgers back on the field with Breece and Garrett healthy... add Davonte Adams and patch together a competent 0-line. Bing Bang Boom... we have a somewhat respectable team. At least that's my plan...
You're not wrong, but it's also an oversimplification. You can make subpar QBs work with a good OC. The issue is we do basically nothing right on offense. Is QB the biggest problem? Sure, but again, it's an oversimplification and implies that we're merely a QB away from having a good, sustainable offense. We have a bad OL, we have a weak WR group, we have a horrific OC, we have mediocre TEs. When you have a run of offensive ineptitude like we have, it means you do basically nothing right on offense. I ran the numbers on this a bit ago and we've averaged something like the 3rd worst offense in the NFL each year over the past 5 years. That's more than just a QB issue.
Email that to Woody. It'll probably be the first time he's heard such a wild plan. Woody: "Competent O line, what a concept!"
I agree with your and Cman. You can not win in the NFL without good QB andOL... I would also add that coaching makes a difference...
Neither do the Browns. Even when Watson was on the field. They’re doing fine. Same with the Steelers.
Whether you like him or not, Aaron Rogers is an NFL QB and he is on the NYJ roster, albeit on IR. The reason we don't have an NFL QB on the ACTIVE roster is because the offensive line is garbage and the homefield turf is more dangerous than coked-up Lawrence Taylor.
Breece Hall is a great running back, but the line can't even open a hint of a lane for him, which makes the offense one dimensional from the start. Then they bite us again by not being able to pass protect any better than they can run block.
Well these threads have been so much fun. Had I know we would be seeing these in November pop up all over the site, well I would still be posting on them. Boy, August doesn't seem like the far ago, what a difference.
Can't really remember them not even trying anymore, they looked so flat, defeated body language, no urgency or extra effort, sad, never saw them like this... nowhere to go from here but up, but I can't see this either...
