I love Jets football. It is one of my favorite things in life. So, as you can expect, it really is unfortunate watching how the team has played this year. This thread goes out to other fans who know that the season is not only done, but borderline UNWATCHABLE the rest of the way. And that Sucks. Period.

It is fun to be able to look forward to a game each week. Even 2007's (4-12) season I did not feel this way. The last time was when Brooks Bollinger was inserted in 2005 and you knew it was done. This team feels far worse than that one though. So Disappointing.

Where do the Jets even go from here? Is the biggest question. Obviously you start from scratch in 2015. New Coach, New QB, hopefully new GM. Starting from ground zero could cause them to be awful for the next couple seasons too. They have some pieces so you never know. Hopefully the team makes some moves in March to get the fan base going again. Then draft well and head into August with a little hope of being an actual team in 2015. That is best case scenario.

Still, the main point of this thread is: It's October 27th, and my season is over. The team is so flat and pathetic, that the thought of tuning in to Jets at Chiefs next week, sounds awful to me. Thank you Woody Johnson, John Idzik, and Rex Ryan for the disaster you put on the field. So awful. Thank you for those who read this.

I'm with you on the rage and it being unwatchable. Yesterday I had the game on but was also watching a stream of competitive video gaming on my laptop and was far more interested in what was on my laptop compared to my TV.

I think the hardest part is that we have no idea what happens going forward. Do they blow it all up, tank for a few years and (hopefully) get some elite talent and field a competitive team a few years from now? What if they do that and still suck? Do they tinker with things here and there and end up just being mediocre for a long period of time? How do you improve if you're always just mediocre? Do they try to bring in some real veterans and do a short turn around? How will that effect us a few years down the road?

There are pros and cons to every possible approach and given the type of product we've been exposed to for the last few years I wouldn't exactly exude confidence no matter what direction they choose.

The problem is the defense is on the cusp ( short 2 or 3 real players ) from being an elite defense, They kept us in the game almost the entire way yesterday which with -6 turnover ratio is unheard of. We can't go into a rebuilding phase and keep all these talented players around. Wilkerson Richardson Harrison, will have to be let go if we go this route.

If we had even the most woe-ful of the "game manager" QBs that were floating around the league this offseason we'd be right in the thick of things.

There have been so many mishandling at the QB position by this team I just don't understand it at all.

Thing is I doubt we fire Idzik the guy hasn't even had the chance to hire his own head coach. But I doubt we draft any of the higher QBs this draft such as Mariota. We may sign a vet journeyman. Anyone have any clue who we sign?

Wow. I don't know if it's possible to have a conversation with you with that type of disillusion but have you watched this defense this year? How about they get to middle of the pack first before we make a statement that they are a couple players short of being elite.

Yeah, Idzik is tough to fire, even after 2 seasons of looking awful at evaluating talent.

Sorry,. I'm trying to stay positive, Believe me I'm just as distraught as anyone else here...

What I do know however,.. Was that even after our QB had literally the worst start the NFL has seen in almost a decade, Our defense made enough stops that I didn't think the game was over until the 3rd quarter, when our 2nd string QB turned the ball over for the 3rd time. They had more drives start on our half of the field then we had trips into theirs. They had 2 drives that started inside the 15 yard line. They beat our beat up, INCREDIBLY HORRID POROUS secondary ( Walls and Allen ) 3 times over the top for TDs. They did not have any sustained drives, They did not drive down the field on our defense. They made big plays over our weakest players. Their drive with the most plays was their opening drive. The only other time they ran more then 4 plays was the should have been TD to Sammy Watkins where Hakim.... FUCKING HAKIM SALIM was playing safety for us and made a great hustle play.

You'll notice that I say we're missing a couple players from being elite, The problem is ( and I'm here admitting it's a problem and that we're not an elite defense because of it ) is that those couple of players are getting burned on a regular basis for big plays. Allen has given up 2 TDs in coverage 2 straight games.

Buffalo's play callers were doing this defense a favor more than the defense was making stops. They played conservative, doing the Jets a favor by running the ball on 1st and 2nd down when thats about the only thing the Jets can stop. To be fair to them though - when you are getting the ball right back to ineptitude why not play conservative and run the ball? run some clock and hang onto points. Why risk a sack/fumble or something crazy and just run it right up the middle...

When the Bills were in attack mode this defense had no answer. They let Sammy Watkins run circles around them and they were dominated- just not as bad as the offense. That doesn't make them close to being elite that just makes them not the worst unit on the field.

The problem with this current (1-7) season is there isn't that much to evaluate anymore. Nobody wants Geno starting anymore for the Jets. Many don't want him on the roster. Vick is old and not the future. Simms is not the future, so evaluating QB is not worth watching. Hopefully players like Pryor can improve down the stretch for 2015. Decker, Harvin, Kerley, Cumberland, Amaro, will likely have a new QB throwing to them in 2015 so can't get much from them. We already know the quality of Wilkerson, Richardson, Mangold, Ferguson, etc and the LACK OF QUALITY in the bad players on the roster who I don't need to name. (I don't have enough time to name them all) Add in that there is nothing to play for but pride, and that the quality of play in Jets games has to be the worst in the NFL, and it will be really tough to tune in again this season.

Hard to believe, I thought this team could win 10 games prior to the season. How naive of me to think this team could improve.

Jets season felt like it was over to me after the Chargers game.

    We were so terrible.

Couldn't agree more. Two months of football left and very little desire to watch any more of Jets. If I do fine, if I miss a few here or there the rest of the way, that is fine too.
However, I do love the game, so I have no problems tuning in to any of the others. I just don't think I will go out of my way for Jet games. Most are usually 1pm, so I will most likely use the time to knock off a few chores, hit the store, and settle in for 4pm and Sunday night games.

I look at this season as a way for me to spend more time and $ on my family. No more of my $ is being spent on this franchise until they start to put a product out there that warrants my hard earned cash. After all, this is the entertainment BUSINESS and I'm am not entertained.

If all of us fans displayed our disgust with this product by mearly not going to games, buying concessions, paying for parking, and buying merchandise I think Woody will get the hint. Ultimatly this season is on Idzik and Geno

    Good post.

Try being a diehard Jets and Mets fan lol. I know i'm not alone with that.

It's at a point for me now with the Mets where I can watch them and see the future and what they're building towards.

But with the Jets, you just don't see anything besides a couple of really good D-Lineman and a player here and there. Football is obviously a lot different than baseball though, teams go from bad to good much quicker so like the OP said you never know.

But our QB isn't on this team right now, and our HC for 2015 isn't on this team right now. With no clear cut solution in the draft, it's a tough place to be in.

Hard to believe some of us thought the Jets could make a play-off run after they landed Harvin. Maybe, a beer run but, that's about it.

Yep, great point. If you could see where the team was heading, it would be much easier to watch. That was why people were positive going into 2014. It felt like the team was building on 2013. Now, mid-way through 2014, we know that is not true. Very tough.

Yeah, I don't see how any fan could buy a Jets shirt let alone go to another game at Met Life Stadium until changes are made. Just awful.

He is not tough to fire. There is no rule that he needs to get another year.
