This is the same story for the past 10 years since chad's first injury. http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/02/healthy-pennington-shows-strong-arm/
Haha yeah. I didn't read the whole article, but I'm willing to bet somewhere in there Chad talks about how he worked on his footwork this offseason.
When will some of you realize that the Favre for Pennington move by the Jets was one of the worst in Jet history and that the last game of the year when the Fins beat the Jets was one of the all time lows in Jet history against a team the Jets have owned for a decade until #10 changed uniforms. I sure would rather have Pennington on the team now while Sanchez is being groomed. The only saving grace from the Favre fiasco is that it led to the firing of gutless, emotionless Mangini.
I really wish I coulda watched Chad throw 4 picks for the Jets instead of the Lfins. It woulda been awesome.
If you think the Jets sniff 9 wins in 2008 with Pennington, let alone beat the Pats & Titans back to back to be 8-3, you are in serious need of medical attention. Favre opened up the field allowing things to happen. He gave us a chance to win. Chad just would've given us another chance to be mediocre. With Pennington, your ceiling is the Wild Card Round unless you get a couple of lucky bounces. With Favre, the ceiling is winning the Super Bowl. It was a risk worth taking and I'm glad we took it. Chad's time in New York had worn incredibly thin it was something that both he and the organization needed. And now we have the Golden Boy Mark Sanchez. Back to Chad's arm strength. Yeah. All of these articles talk about his footwork and how that is going to add some extra zip to his balls. Yep. Right. He'll be throwing it like Favre in no time.
and then the Baltimore beat down happens to us? If the Jets win that game, the Pats go to the postseason as the division champs... and they may have had a shot against the rookie QB Flacco because it is Belichick thats game planning. Letting Chad set the Fin record for most picks in a playoff game was worth getting beat, because the Jets lost their chance at a playoff berth against Seattle - the team with a 2nd string OL and a Mangini plan to throw the ball 35 times in the Seattle snow.
Yeah why would we have won 8 w/ Chad when Chad won 11 w/ a less talented team in Miami. if we kept Chad we easily win the division. Favre held us back, he had a nice 3-4 game stretch but that was it. He killed our season. The only way it turned out to be a risk worth taking is if Sanchez pans out. I hope it happens but if not that move will have set us back 4-5 years. We had alot more talent around the QB and would have matched up much better w/ Baltimore especially at home. There's a difference matching up w/ Coles, Cotch and keller compared to Bess, Ginn and Fasano plus our OL was better as Miami's Ol got abused in that game. Why can't people just let the Chad thing go? Why continue to bash? He's one of the good guys, a guy who gave everything he had to our team and yet he gets bashed for some unknown reason.
Favre for Pennington simply ended the Pennington era for the Jets. If it had not happened he possibly would still be the starting QB for the team. We could have probably gone to the playoffs with Chad last year, but when Chad plays against good defenses he loses and likely we wouldn't trade up to draft a QB because of it.
We have 2 AFC East Titles in our history, we threw away a 3rd last year. Again, if Sanchez os for real it will have been worth it b/c it will mean we are winning multiple div titles and more in the next decade or so BUT until that happens the favre move was a disaster.
You know what I miss? I miss a good stair running story about Curtis Martin. That is what I miss. Nostalgia at its best.
at one point we were happy as a fanbase to see Belichick leave. I don't know what Mangini will become but he was a very young 1st time HC and he has the tools to be a big time HC.
