I can't see the pic, but I assume it's Joe? (I looked at the code for the page, so I assume from the name "TorreAlone.jpg" it's him.) If so, that's not necessarily true. If the Yankees are under .500 at the All-Star break, Joe will not be with the team after the break. You can bet on that. Here's the thing. While everyone knows how much I disapprove of him, right now, the problems are not his fault. He's done his best the past week or so to right the ship. He's mixed up the batting order, and tried to let starters work themselves out of jams. The team is playing more inspired since George's vote of confidence, so that's a positive. Abreu is showing signs of finally breaking out (bunting can help a guy with some speed get back on track, and he's trying.) Finally, we got rid of the conditioning guy. If no one has noticed that everyone was starting to look like the players were in better shape in the week leading up to that canning, they weren't paying attention. (That's probably because a week before the axe fell, the players were abandoning his program.) Like I said last week, it's still far too early to sound the alarm. At the end of the month, we'll reevaluate and see where we stand. I'm pretty confident that will be at least in second place, back by a game, maybe two.
i dont know i think torre is not taking the same approach he did from 1996-2001. he has gotten to comfortable.
There is no way in hell Torre gets fired this year now. If Torre were to get canned and we were to falter with Clemens, who would George blame? Himself? Hahhahaha
