So we lost the game we wasn't getting in the playoffs if we won. All we would had done was give us a lot lower draft choice.
PLUS the Pats missed the playoffs to because of our loss, so who really cares if we won yesterday?

Dude, we lost to the Dolphins. Yesterday was just the exclamation point on the latest showing of the same old Jets.

You don't play for lower draft spots...

any jets fan who realizes that our real hated rival is not the patriots, but rather the dollfags.

losing to the dolphins is the worst thing you can do, in that situation losing to that team is just completely and totally unacceptable.

there was a time when i didnt care if we won more than 2 games a year just as long as those 2 wins were against the dollfags. and there were plenty of years we were just that bad :(

WHAT? If we go 4-1 against a pretty soft schedule the last five weeks, we're playing this Sunday. Simply put.

Yeah, maybe they should have told the team that.

3-2 puts us in the playoffs. It was going to take 11 wins to get in unless things fell just right. Beating the Broncos, Bills and Dolphins would have put us in the playoffs even if we lost to the 49ers and Seahawks.

Well, that's why they're gone. Now, hopefully, someone comes along and cleans up their mess. I know, the players play, but this coaching staff, sans Westoff, showed no confidence in this bunch one bit with their constant head-scratching decisions, so that's why I don't mind that they're gone.

They team is not gone, and they want to bring back the captain of the sinking ship. The SS 2 TD's 9 picks for 22 INT's in the last 5 weeks!!!

You can say the handwriting was pretty much on the wall after the Seattle game. Considering the competition (practice squad OL), one of the Jets worst played and coached games in recent memory.

It was disheartening to me but I resigned myself to the fact that:

    1. The Jets didn't deserve to be in the playoff the way they were playing. Both the Dolphins and the Patriots were far more deserving. As much as I hate Belichick the Pats got royally screwed. They've been scorching teams for the last month and had 11-5 record.

    2. It would have been difficult to get rid of Mangini if they got into the playoffs. The Jets needed to clean house and this game was a referendum on whether he had lost the team. In my opinion I had already seen enough to know that he should go and losing this game was what was needed to move on. The team had no heart and Mangini had no heart and they needed to be put out of their misery. Everyone knew what was coming after floundering against bad teams: 49s, Seattle, Bills and Broncos.

    "Hello?

YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!"

Maybe you missed that part of the Jets history or something?
Anyhow--the Jets play to win the game.
The Jets do not throw games for a better draft position.
In fact, if ANY NFL team is caught doing that?
    Heavy penalties will ensue...
    So please...
    GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!!

It's too soon for me to speculate, I'm still too angry, but I think Favre back with a staff that realizes there are other playmakers on the team other than the 39-year-old QB wouldn't be bad. I think the offensive staff depended on him way too much, and didn't call the types of plays guys like Jones, Washington, Keller, Cotchery, etc. can make. With their O line, it's a joke that Favre was actually depended on this much. We have one of the top rushing games in the league and we abandon it when we need it the most. JESUS, are you kidding me? We have the top playmaker in our division with Leon and you can't find a way to get him the ball. You have Favre throwing bombs on third-and-two and second-and-three? Jesus, I go to most games and everybody wants to see the bome. Jeez, the crowd usually starts booing after one running play, but look at what happened once the running game became an afterthought?

Regardless of whether that's true, I have a difficult time believing you're the Jets' #1 Fan..

I hate Belichick and the Pats more every year, but considering the Dolphins in the years I grew up, they will always be hated the most. Don Shula, Duhe, Marino, Duper, Clayton, etc. Your childhood years are always your most formidable and that will be the team I hate the most. The Pats were always an afterthought back then.

Maybe to the older fans the Dolphins is more of a rivalry, but I think to the younger fans, like mid 20's and younger, it's not even close. Since 98 we are 17-5 against them. One of the losses was 2002 when we won the division anyway. Then 2 in 2003 when we weren't making the playoffs anyway. 1 in 2005 when we went 4-12. And one this year. This is the first time since 97 we have lost a meaningful game to the Dolphins, and really it didn't even end up mattering to us.

The Patriots on the other hand have dominated us in that time frame. Throw in all the players and coaches who have switched sides, including Belichick who screwed us, plus spygate, plus the Boston-New York thing.

It's been years since the Dolphins-Jets has been anything more than a divisional game. I get that a lot of people grew up when the Dolphins owned us, but the younger fan doesn't remember that, and I'm sure even some of the older fans just care about what's happened more recently.

Hey man, caps not necessary, it's late. I just said it might not be a bad thing. I didn't see Favre calling many audibles the end of the season, I gotta say most of those plays were Shottenheimer's decisions. If you're in the shotgun, right from the beginning, then you're just running the play sent in. Why wouldn't Favre want to throw that bubble screen to Leon. The Pats run that play with Welker all the time with great success, why not Leon. You think Favre likes getting hit to the ground almost every play. Why wouldn't he want to run the ball more often? Just asking.

Not only that, you think, since he's such an egomaniac, that he would want this collapse on his head and attached to his legacy. I doubt it.
