    I'll bet it is:

If Brett Favre wants to play another year with the Jets, he'll have to work a lot harder to win over his teammates than he did this season.

"There was a lot of resentment in the room about him," a Jets player told Newsday yesterday. He requested anonymity because team owner Woody Johnson has stated publicly that Favre is welcome to return next season if he wants to. (Favre reportedly will take until the end of February to decide about returning.)

The 39-year-old quarterback is not as welcome with his teammates, according to this veteran. After the Jets traded for Favre Aug. 6, the sure Hall of Famer made no effort to ingratiate himself with the already assembled team, the veteran said. He said Favre spent most of his down time at the practice facility in an office specially designated for him near the equipment room, not with teammates in the locker room, even after the media departed.

"He never socialized with us, never went to dinner with anyone," the player said. Asked to describe Favre in a word, he said: "Distant."

I don't think Coles would request anonymity under the circumstance noted.

Fuck Coles.. he should be burned at the stake for saying, or possibly not saying, such disrespectful and insurrectionary rhetoric.

Seriously, it could have been any one of the veterans. And like what Cakes said, Coles doesn't seem media savvy enough to request anonymity.

hard to say, I hate it when a player throws a team mate under the bus and don't have the rocks to man up to it.

it makes the whole team look bad

I thought it might be Coles because LC seemed unhappy when Favre replaced CP and then made comments out in SF about him, although after rethinking things I think Cakes is right that Coles would have just come out and said what he thought on the record.

This is a debacle.....This team is turning itself into a joke.....Keep it all in the locker room......Why are you pouring gas all over the fire......Figure it out....hire a coach.....start concentrating on next year and stop giving the rest of the league more of a reason to view you as a joke.

Thomas Jones is the guilty party, not Coles, as per ESPN.

Offensive linemen often times go out to eat dinner with the quarterback(s).
The best bet would be that an offensive lineman is responsible for the quote. I doubt a defensive player would be in position to know whether or not Favre went out to dinner with any other Jets.

Damien Woody is very good with the media. Perhaps it was him. Alan Faneca would be another strong possibility. Faneca was critical of Ben Roethlisberger in 2004 and would make comments about teammates here and there during his years in Pittsburgh. Faneca will be returning to the Jets in 2009 and this could explain the request for anonymity.

    My money is one Faneca

What makes the team look bad is when one of the players acts like he's better than everyone else and holes himself up in his private office.

to me, who said it is not as important as what was said.

it delivers a message about a team in disarray and the team management either unaware or unwilling to do anything to stop it.

TJ was quoted on the record with the HOT97 interview. This "veteran" player talked off the record to Newsday. What makes you think Jones would do a radio interview and bash Favre and then ask for anonymity with Newsday?

One could never be certain but the following premises are pretty likely:

    1. Its an offensive player
    2. Its someone with significant experience on the Jets--that is, Faneca would not make this comment because he has no pervious jet history to compare BF's behavior to.

Since TJ came out and said something, he is the highest probability for being the guy stating this too. But why would he have gone anon. in this case?

    Another possible is C-Bake.

I hate anonymous fuckers--it should not even be printed if its anonymous.

I can't remember who said it, Pace, Thomas, or Jenk, but they said it was a D player who planted the turkey parts in (Bartons?) locker.
