Than Vernon Gholston in 2008 and Mark Sanchez in 2009? I mean those are two epic draft busts, and back to back, simply amazing. Two draft busts like that set this organization back a decade. Sixth and fifth pick and both completely bust, amazing...
Sanchez may be a bust (I'm still not sure...a 4 year starter is better than most Qb busts) but he can not be compared to Gholston's "bust" status.
Sanchez was statistically one of the worst QB's in the league every single year he was here, and completely imploded these last two years, he's a bust and a big one.
I don't know if you can call Sanchez a bust, major disapointment considering how his 1st 2 years started but IMO this organization shares as much of the blame in his failures as he does. They may have coddled him but they have downgraded every position on the offense outside of LT and Center from his rookie year to now.
Hard to call him a bust with 4 road playoff wins. He hasnt been great but he did perform well at times on the biggest stages. Hes more of a let down, after losing to Pitt I think we all felt confident in him going forward. After that shoulder surgery, his down field passing was never the same, Even Plax said it to.
If you wanna see a string of draft busts just google up the entire Matt Millen era of Detroit Lions. Record setting failures there. On topic: I do agree with you that Gholston & Sanchez were two terrible picks. Especially when you consider Jets traded up for Sanchez.
The TD drive when New England cut the game 14-11 is enough to prove Mark wasnt a bust. It was a ballsy response when the Patriots got back in the game.
Can you call a QB that played well in several playoff games was a "complete bust"? NO....... ended as a big disappointment? DEFINITELY. Compare him to Vernon Gholston in any way, shape or form? NO WAY
Its just unfortunate. After that Indy game in 09. I honestly felt like we had an elite qb in our hands potentially. Then again after the Pitt game, I felt like he could be an upper tier guy, he seemed to have it, Ever since the shoulder surgery he was never the same.
Comparing the two players is nothing short of moronic. I can't think of one individual accomplishment Gholston had on this team. No sacks. Did he even record a tackle for a loss? Sanchez at least had his moments. Sanchez was more of a disappointment than a bust.
Yeah, for his sake I hope he doesn't start having the same issues that force Pennington into retirement.
This is your answer right here. The Bengals using top 5 picks on Akili Smith and Peter Warrick in '99/'00 is pretty horrific also.
Here is another one: Cleveland Browns 99 1st overal pick: Tim Couch 00 1st overal pick: Courtney Brown
How about 1990 and 1991 with an asterisk? Blair Thomas in 1990 then second round in 1991 with the 34th pick overall...Browning Nagle!
dude...... stop bringing up the nightmares of my youth @ the time I thought Emmit was the man........ then Damn that Rob Moore selection (good player, but ultimately cost the JETS Brett Favre)
Yes. Jon Gruden called Nacho a very good QB last night. Grudens resume is available..l.post yours please...
Really? I thought Atl traded up to jump in front of us to snag him? idk, I may be wrong ...all the bad memories are too many and globbing together, gettin fuzzy lmao
