10+ yrs ago our former owner got a bug up his trousers and fired Pete Caroll aftera 6-10 season after 1 yr as Jet H/C. He then hired a "deese and "does" guy(Those were Leon's words). THe man was Rich Kotite. Kotite had just been fired from Philly and he became next to Lou Holtz probaby the worst Jet H/C in history.THe only good thing about the Kotite era was the hiring of Bill Parcells as Jet Head honcho. Now we have Tanny and Mangini who seem to be made in Kotie's mold. Kotite wanted "smart hard working football players"just as Mangini has. After 3 preseaon games I still see STUPID penalities, missed blocking assignmernts and enough bad football to start making my draft board for 07'. I can't believe a team a kick away 2 yrs ago from the AFC title game is this bad! Our offense is not working and the defense has no Pass Rush. We'll be lucky to win 2 games. Please post on what positives you've seen from Mangini (besides the long practices)

  2. What do you expect?

This is a team that has completely gutted its roster and is starting completely over w/ new scheme, new personell and a new approach to the games themselves.

Of course there are gonna be struggles/growing pains on the field. Where have you been the past 6 months? We all knew this was how the team was going to look at this stage. How that translates into Mangini equaling Kotite is beyond me.

I don't get it. We're already comparing Mangini to Kotite when he's clearly inherited a team with very little overall talent. it's gonna be a long year on this board

I saw the same missed blitz pick-ups 3 weeks running. I see no imagination with the game plan especiaaly the offensive one.ALL in all I see a team that is poorly coached the same as the last coach.

I know your just making your point , but come on...3 preseason games????And comparing him to Kotite now , thats harsh and out of order. Hes a young 'talented' coach and is still feeling his way. We are going to learn the way he learns and its not going to be an instant fix. After the the Skins game the pom poms came out and everything was sweet but now we lost a meaningless game the storm clouds are gathering again.
Its not going to be nice for the next 2-3 years so start getting used to it now.

Yes you I'm sure remember that when Kotite was a assistant with us he made sure to bring Leon coffee & in Leon eyes he became a good guy which is why he was hired.

Wow, has everyone tuned into a bunch of Champ Jrs already? Yep, Murrell, it's gonna be a long season on this board. The defense played well, and the game plan on D was very very effective. But no one wants to talk about that.... instead it's Mangini is another Kotite? that's just nuts. If anyone thinks Mangini will get through this season without making some mistakes is dilusional as well.

Aside from that... preseason W's and L's don't mean anything, but the fire Mangini posts are right around the corner, aren't they?

This is an absolute BS thread...After 3 preseason games how can you even think of comparing him to Kotite.

& how many TDs so far has CP produced? I have not yet seen the game but what Gary Myers said was CP was throwing butterfly balls which even you would admit does not bode well for us.

Sure cause as HC Kotex or EM has decided who supposely gives him the best chance to win the regular season. 0 points for CP does not sound like he is choosing the "best" now does it to U?

The starter of thread just was making a comparisons & was not yet saying EM is another Kotex. All he is doing is saying it looks like the SOJs as it was 10 or so years ago. You guys should really learn how to read posts much more carefully before deep ending it.

    Excellent points.

The defensive gameplan was outstanding. Manning looked like his brother playing new england...lost at times.

Hey...everybody better get it through their head now or petro is going to go broke with the amount of space threads like these will take up.

Mangini is a defensive guy...this is a rebuilding year...I REPEAT..THIS IS A REBUILDING YEAR. The defense will be rebuilt quicker..and better than the offense. If anyone is looking for the Jets to start putting up upper 20's or lower 30's in points...you might as well get ready for hockey or nba basketball.

Considering how complex the system on defense is...quite honestly...Im a bit surprised how well its looked..AFTER ONLY 3 PRESEASON GAMES.

For Mangini, I doubt chad is the qb of the future...I doubt the running back of the future is on this team...and I highly doubt the number 1 receiver is on this roster...so people better start getting over the fact that this offense will be near complete this year. 40% of the offensive line are rookies. Missed assingments and penalities are going to happen for at least a half a year..maybe more.

Just concentrate on the growth of the defense and forget about the offense this year...you will sleep much better at night.

Wait, you are basing this on preseason games and a quote? And you expect serious responses?

Has EM announced the starting QB yet? Do you think KC is our best option at QB right now? How about PR or BB??? Out of all of our options at QB I'd say CP is our best option right now. Do you disagree? If so, who on our roster should be the starting QB? Please enlighten us

Because it feeds in to his 37 year thing. Now its woody johnson whos an idiot.

He tells us to reread the initial thread because we are not understanding it...all you have to do is read the "Is Mangini the answer or is he another kotite".

    How extreme is that.

Rebuilding teams dont normally do to well.. It is obvious we were rebuilding since the draft when we take offense lineman in the first and our qb of the future in the second. We are just laying down the pavement to a team that will be a playoff team consistenly.
