I dont know about you guys but all the experts have him written in blood to go at 1 and im just not ready to accept that yet, BUT if he is i believe this makes the draft alot simpler. The way i see it St. Louis holds the key. If they go Chris Long or Gholston at 2 then it goes like this. 3 Glen Dorsey 4. Chris Long or Vernon Gholston(whichever ST louis doesnt take) or Mcfadden 5. Kc Branden Albert 6. Whichever one Oakland doesnt take. If St. Louis goes Dorsey then everything is screwy. 3. Matt Ryan? not ready to believe they think he is a franchise qb 4. Chris Long or Vernon Gholston or Mcfadden 5.Branden Albert 6. Chris Long if he is there or Gholston(just to keep a de out of the Pats hands) they wont take DMC they would trade down. Obviously, the second scenario Matt Ryan is the wildcard and that pick could easily be a trade down or something. My main point being, If Jake Long is a lock at 1, i think barring MULTIPLE trade downs, we will get one of the 3 guys we want.
Just a couple of questions/comments: 1. How come you think the Jets won't take McFadden? They seem to like him quite a bit. 2. If KC trades Jared Allen, I think they're more than likely going to take Long or Gholston (depending on who/if they are available). To me, best case scenario for the Jets would be: 1. Jake Long 2. Gholston 3. Dorsey 4. Chris Long 5. Matt Ryan 6. DMC
actually, i think the Jets would take Chris Long over Mcfadden anyday, but if its Gholston Mcfadden its very close, but if we take Mcfadden and let Gholston fall You know the Pats will scoop him up and torment us forever. Which is why we take Gholston, but i think its a moot point because 99% only one guy we want, C Long, Gholston or Mcfadden will be there and it will be a no brainer. I did say trades would mess this up, so im assuming no trades.
Looks like the Dolphins are serious about signing him as of this morning. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft08/news/story?id=3358424 "It's looking more likely that the Miami Dolphins will select Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long with the top overall selection in Saturday's NFL draft. According to several reports, the Dolphins are in serious negotiations with Long and the Palm Beach Post reported Tuesday that an announcement on an agreement could be just days away. A source told the Post that "there's a very good chance" Long will sign with Miami before the draft begins at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday."
The Jets should take Gholston if they feel he's the best fit. They shouldn't take him if their primary motivation is to keep Gholston away from New England.
