That was pretty random..... ....of course he's a bust. But you think anyone on that coaching staff and FO is going to admit that?
Every Time he's in there it's a defender making it through the line and Sanchez is either being creamed or running for his life. I don't know how long you stick with a guy until its time to pull the plug??
Due to the lockout and all that shit id say up to this point hes not a bust since he was a project to begin with anyway. That said If hes not useful by this season id say he is undeniably as much of a bust as they come. Specially with Spano simplifying the offense and blocking schemes
Right now he is a disappointment. If he can't find a spot on the line with a full offseason and a switch to a simpler blocking scheme he is a bust.
I think Vlad is one of the guys most affected by the switch from Schotty to Sparano. The guy is as physically gifted as he is a mental midget. In a Sparano O, physical ability is more important than mental capacity for Olineman. Vlad stepping up will be huge for Jets if it happens. So yes as of now he is a bust but that can still change.
At times, he is a beast when we are running the ball. As for pass blocking, he is a liability. If he doesn't develop into a solid back-up by final cuts... he's a bust.
Yeah, if he still has any shot to develop into something left, this upcoming year is his chance. Simplified gameplan for him and a full offseason to learn it. If he's still a bust after next year, I can't imagine him ever becoming anything particularly useful.
He was an obvious project pick. In my mind that means you have to wait longer for him to develop, maybe I'm just crazy though. I don't like the idea of taking a project in the 2nd round, but thats not on vlad.
i told myself when he was drafted that if he's not a productive member of the o-line by 1 AM on Jan 15th, he should be gone, so i'm with the op.
I think the biggest problem with most of our line is...and I believe this. In practice he goes up against poor pass rushers. Imagine if every day he's going against a Ware, Woodley, Matthews or Suggs, NO he's going against Westerman, Pace, and Thomas. Not to mention the short off season and retarded schemes, it was tough for him I think Sparano should immediately name him the starting RT why? it raises his confidence so he knows he has to get better and Hunter knows he has to work harder also. Ducasse can hopefully develop with Sparano's help and become D'Brickashaw-lite. Hunter gave up 8.5 sacks this year if Ducasse can cut that in half and raise ypc numbers to the right side by 1.5 yards I think we'll be fine
I'm with you on this. A simpler scheme and running the ball more should help Vlad a great deal. If he still can't produce next season he will be a bust then.
Wow man, you are really developing your posting style. Someday soon maybe you'll even start talking about runningbacks! *eagerly awaits the Is Bilal Powell A Bust Yet? thread*
I always thought a bust was a pick you had high expectations for that didn't pan out. Vladimir was a project and identified as one from the get go. As a prior poster said, he is a disappointment, not a bust.
Well... the expectations are based on the rd you draft him. Gholston in rd 1? Colossal bust. Gholston in rd 4? Disappointment. Gholston in rd 7? Oh well, who cares. Same with Ducasse... if he doesn't develop at least as a situational player (6th OL) he'll be a bust, not just a disappointment. For now though let's hope he pans out.
