No, he is pretty good. Just had a couple of bad plays, but the fact him and Revis aren't targeted nearly enough means they are doing a good job.
it seems to me that if Revis or cromartie give up a couple of mere receptions they get hammered by everyone for it. it's ridiculous. the microscope has never been hovering over players more than it is now.
All part of the game but, I just would have loved to see this defense with Big Jenks in the hole and Leonard lasting the year.... Jenks makes the pass rush that much more effective and the secondary was already confused and not on the same page with Leonard.
Anyone looks like a bad CB when the QB has all day to throw. Revis still looks "awwl worrrrld." Cromartie looks like a #2.
Cromartie tends to struggle against smaller, faster WRs, excels against the bigger WRs. Revis is good on all. The corners for the Jets bear a larger burden than corners for most teams because of the scheme.
He usually gives up one big play a game. He usually plays well. If he can just quit giving up that big play it would be great.
I think Drew Coleman is overrated. And most people think he's complete dog shit. But that's a compliment towards him I think.
If you search my posts you'll find many critical of Cromartie...so yes. The guy is so athletically gifted it's a shame his head and heart lag far behind. I've seen him play live (w/ the Chargers) and he is (or was) the fastest player on the field at any given time. He constantly shies away from physical contact, whether it's jamming rcvr's off the line or making tackles. When he can't avoid making a tackle, he uses his hands and grabs at the opponent. Pretty sure that isn't coached. And when rcvr's make cuts, it seems like Cro takes forever to make his adjustment. Maybe we don't play enough zone to suit his talent, but he looks awkward out there.
GOOD POST..... Combine this thread with the 15 "WE DONT HAVE A PASS RUSH" Threads and you will see what Cro is up against.
here's how I see the corners in the NFL tier 1: revis and aso stand alone tier 2: cromartie, finnegan, jammer, a samuel, c bailey(whatever he has left)...and there's more I'm forgetting tier 2 guys are very good players but can be beaten. and i'm not saying champ bailey or samuel isn't better then cro, they might be. then you have the young up and corners who will try to put themselves in the revis and aso category. mccourty, v davis, haden
8 ints in 15 games for a team that had the best pass D last year by far is pretty lousy. I hope Kyle "snakebit" Wilson can contribute next week.
