I was looking at the stats for the JETS and I saw that Dustin Keller already has 40 catches and with his next two grabs he will surpass Chris Baker's all-time career high.
Wow - I hadn't seen that number yet. I knew he was catching a lot of balls, but that's great. There's not much not to like about this kid so far.
As we're on the subject of stats Jets 7/0 in Sunday 1pm kick offs EST Jets 0/3 in late Sunday afternoon kick offs As for Keller, the man is a star
I said that after the Pats loss in week 2... the Jets seem to suck in the late afternoon. Let's break that curse right now. Its time to rape Coach Pants Dropper. He's askin for it.
Why does Baker suck? He's a decnet reciever with better blocking skills. He's definately worth a spot if he's content with the #2 role. As for Keller, has anyone noticed or taken any notes on his blocking ability? I haven't been paying close attention, but I also don't remember seeing him miss any key blocks. Any thoughts on this?
When he is in, he's usually not blocking. I imagine that they keep him off the line for that reason and use him as the hybrid receiver. When he is in the game, its tougher for teams to blitz because someone has to pick him up. Baker is still being used as the blocking TE. He sprung TJ loose on his 59 yrd TD run.
I made it a point to watch his blocking in the game Baker got injured in warmups. He's not a good blocker at all.
No question in the past few weeks, we've seen the Dustin Keller we saw on those draft day Purdue highlight reels. However, based upon his own admission, he has alot to learn about blocking (as he rarely did any of it in college) and is far from a complete player... I know we like to beat up on Baker, but hopefully Keller can pick up some technique from him on the blocking side... and be able to play in every situational down... That being said, for a rookie season, it's an off the charts success story-- especially given the confidence Favre has in him at this point...
