    i always get into a heated argument with my friends when they use wins as indication that a quarterback is a hall of famer or not.

    personally, i feel that wins come from a team effort.

    but i found this and i thought is was interesting....

    it discredits some of the quarterbacks that they were saying were amazing.

    Interesting, but probably not going to quiet the controversies. The big issue, of course, is that kickers are pretty much not dependent on anyone (yes, snappers and holders, but that only affects a small proportion of kicks), while QBs are strongly dependent on receivers and running backs (who are also strongly dependent on him, of course), so that what they did for kickers is uncontroversial doesn't mean that this is. Peyton Manning being at the top is a result that I hope any NFL fan could have predicted.

    I also have to admit that my favorite part is under number 2, where he talks about Simpson's Paradox. I have new examples for my class!
