    Hi folks!

As I do every year I kind of spend a bit of time scouring for gems then looking into them. Having said that...I'd waste a 2nd day late round pick on this kid: http://www.thepostgame.com/features/201303/reputation-rebuilt-former-prep-stars-uncommon-road-cusp-nfl

With his intangibles I do not think that he would make it to after the draft to be signed as a Rookie FA. Anyone local to this guy know anything?

As a side note, kids that come out of these medium to small Pennsylvania colleges seem to do quite well in the NFL. Not sure why but it's worth a looksee anyway.

This guy would be very interesting if the words Alcoholics Anonymous had popped up in that article. He's obviously got a serious drinking problem that has upended his entire life at least twice.

I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole right now because stuff like that reoccurs pretty predictably. If he was in a 10 step program however then he might be absolutely golden, since he's clearly got the goods.

I say the Jets need to do due diligence with this kid. He might turn out to be the miracle we have been hoping for.

You know...I agree with you to a degree. It's quite possible he's a part of that. But, having said that, I remember when I was in college. Half the student body were lushes and almost ALL of the athletes. You couldn't go to any one of the sports frats without running into, bumping off of or stepping over a drunken athlete. Not condoning it...just stating the obvious reality. This kid just appears to be one of the unlucky ones that gets caught.

But, as the other poster mentioned, I would put some due diligence in obviously. If he's matured and cleaned up his act then spending a 6 or 7th round pick should be prudent. Especially if we move Revis to Atlanta or San Francisco...with the picks we get from that we would have some options.

Jesus. If getting kicked out of Virginia didn't teach him a lesson, what will?

Do you want Braylon Redux? Not me.

It terms of character, it doesn't sound to me like he's such a big risk.

If he's cheap -- which he will be as a UDFA -- why not invite him to camp to see what he's got? I can't imagine that Lalich wouldn't be motivated to perform when his competition is Tebow, Quinn, Cassell, and Gerrard. OH, and Sanchez.

This happened to him twice. He had to change schools twice because of drinking. That's not a normal college athlete getting drunk because he can. That's a guy who can't control the drinking or has a self-destructive twitch.

Unlucky is when you get nailed for unlawful purchase of alcohol and the local authorities don't let it go, giving you probation instead. Then you're beyond unlucky when you get caught drinking, violating the terms of your probation just months later.

The DUI at your second school that forces you to transfer again? That's not unlucky, that's something else and I'd never want to rely on that guy at the game's key position.

You are probably right, but it could be a low risk, high reward move if he's picked up as a UDFA. You have someone go drill sergeant on him day one being brutally honest about his opportunity.

Son, you're here for one reason and one reason only, because the good lord blessed you with great talent. If you didn't have such great talent you'd never be given this opportunity after all your previous fuck ups and if you so much as sneeze the wrong direction this opportunity will be gone in a heart beat. Bottom line, this is your last chance to not be a fuck up loser for the rest of your life. Keep your head on straight and take advantage of what you were blessed with or you'll be out the door faster than I can say fuck up!

Some people take longer than others to get it.

You got that right! After having thought about it...your drill sergeant idea sound about right.

Any highlights or video of the kid? All I could find was from 2007.

If he's got the bigtime arm, and he impresses mentally, I want him in if he is that cheap. If we spent a 7th on him, thats a great low-risk/high-reward situation. Definitely a guy I am going to watch during the draft/days after the draft.

Unless he's a UDFA, I'm not wasting my time with him. There are tons of guys with big arms that never make it, and he was playing against inferior competition as well. UDFA? Sure, bring him in. But I rather try to take guys that can contribute somewhere else than find our QB with him, especially with so many red flags around him.

College Sports is a big time business where winning is really everything. He got kicked out twice, once after he was going to get beat out at Oregon State by some no name guy. If there is X amount of bad info on him out in public, there is X times 10 that probably wasn't made public. If he had enough talent, people would bend over backwards for him in college football (same reason Petrino will find another job, same reason Leach got another job), so I'm not holding my hopes for this guy.

    Interesting read though.
