Let's hope this kid is as good as I've been hearing. Going to the game tonight, sitting insanely close. Should be a good time.

I was just saying this morning that maybe the injury bug isn't such a bad thing for us. Sure, it is going to force some of these kids to the bigs a bit early, but maybe that's just what we need right now.

So can someone provide me insight on why Wright is getting a two step jump to the bigs, while Hughes is still in AAA? Is it because they are that committed to bringing him along slowly, or is it that Wright is more MLB-ready right now?

probably more of the idea of making sure Hughes is ready when he makes it up to the bigs...because once hes here, hes here...and he wont go back down

They don't want to rush Hughes, and Wright has been dominant so far in his first two starts at AA.

Wright could go out and give a good start, but I think it might be very similar to when Henn was called up in 05.

That's pretty much what I figured in terms of Hughes. They're babying him, which is fine by me. I want him to be the guy he is projected to be. Someone who makes the league say: "Santana, who?"

I'm excited to see Wright tonight. I have watched when people like you post info about him, and I'm curious to see how he does.

Hopefully, he'll get some run support tonight.

Wright is also on the 40 man roster, who impressed Joe in spring training and in his first 2 minor league starts. Sanchez, Clippard, and Hughes are all better prospects than Chase, but Wright's being on the 40 man roster as well as the want to slowly bring along Hughes are the reasons.

I hope Arod blasts Bonds record this year...that way if Bonds breaks Aaron's record, at least he loses HR in a season record...it wont be long until Arod breaks the all time home run record, hes only 31 and at 471 HRs already

Also because he isn't pitching particularly well in AAA, usually a team likes to see you get your ERA somewhere below 6 before they call you up.

it also has to do with Chase Wright already being on the 40-man roster, so the Yankees did not have to make any additional roster moves

Chase Wright did good tonight. He got the job done. Must have been a great feeling having his father in the crowd, and staying in until the 5th was over so he can get his 1st Major League win.

And it didn't hurt that the Yankees won the game 10-3 :)

I know Paulie and Kay were saying Wright didn't have a lot of control or pitch that well, but I disagree. This kid has some talent!

He got screwed on a LOT of pitch calls. Starting with the first hitter he faced, on a 3-2 count, that last pitch was barely off the plate, but could easily have been called a strike.

His breaking ball is nasty. And he showed he can throw his fastball past hitters when he is getting fair strike calls during the at-bat.

He got into a little bit of trouble eah inning, but I blame that a lot on the ball-strike calls. Even my wife was getting pissed off at the calls. I like what I've seen from him so far. How many starts is he expected to get up here now? I know they mentioned that Cashman said this is only temporary, so I hope he gets at least 2 more starts while he's here, to at least get a chance to prove himself.
    --------------------

ARod is insane. He's seeing the ball like it's a basketball coming towards the plate. And he's finally having a lot of fun again. It's nice to see him smiling all the time. I haven't seen that from in as long as he's been here. He's even laughing with Jeter now.
    --------------------

Speaking of Jeter, he had a really nice "Jeteresque" play yesterday. Nice to see, especially after that stupid back page of the Daily News yesterday talking about Jeter finally being done. Nice job DN, you've proven you still suck at producing a periodical.

This is the Joe Torre treatment. Anyone in the pen is subject to it, and it's been this way for years. Joe acts like guys can pitch 2 innings every day out of the pen, but never lets a starter go over a hundred.

It's sickening. And Bruney's not the only one. Proctor's been overused already, Henn is getting there, Myers pitches almost every single game.

Wright's getting one of the best gifts I've ever seen Joe give.

He'll face Dice-K in Boston, on Sunday Night Baseball this week.

    Talk about pressure. WoW.

I hope he does well. If he pitches like he did last night, it's going to be interesting.
