It was bad enough when Miller and Coors went with a joint venture now every major beer in the US.... http://www.upi.com/Business_News/20...InBev-SABMiller-agree-to-merge/4311444758719/ LONDON, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Anheuser-Busch InBev and SABMiller, the world's two largest brewing companies, agreed in principle Tuesday to merge. The agreement came after SABMiller's board accepted improved terms offered by Anheuser-Busch InBev of an all-cash acquisition for about $104 billion. With Anheuser-Bush InBev's takeover of SABMiller, the unified new company would be a market colossus with nearly 30 percent of the world's beer brands. Each has dozens of beer brands; Anheuser-Busch InBev's include Budweiser, Corona, Stella Artois, Beck's and Hoegaarden. Among SABMiller's are Miller, Coors, Blue Moon and Keystone. The agreement came after several weeks of discussions in London, and a deadline of Wednesday for a formal offer, under British takeover rules. Because of the size and scope of the deal, it will likely face government regulatory scrutiny and the possible sale of some assets, likely in the United States and China. It also must be supported by SABMiller's two largest shareholders, the U.S. tobacco company Altria Group, and Colombia's Santo Domingo family, who together own 41 percent of the company.
as I understood it this is only in regards to some of their global offerings. Miller & Coors are not a part of the deal but rather a bunch of beers we haven't really heard of in the U.S. I could be wrong though.
I'm reading that there are going to be over $200m in fees to avoid regulatory risks.. probably they will have to drop one of the big brand name plates (Bud or Miller). And this deal will face a slew of antitrust investigations. And if the deal finally goes through I still think Craft beer wins. None of us will notice a change in the beer selection...just shitty commercialized American beer On a side note, beer is king (not corn or cotton). My buddy's the bartenders come home with more fists of cash than anyone I know. So much cash, so, so much cash...all under the table; near impossible to make claim on or track. Kids, be a bartender.
I was introduced to a "poor man's Corona" in Chicago. Bartender said it was the beer of choice for swooning college ladies in Oklahoma. Take a Coors light and put a lime in it. My gf and I thought it tasted damn near the same as corona.
Ha, "poor man's Corona". There's a reason they tell you to put a lime in Mexican beer. It tastes like dog piss without it.
Ha.. Awesome...... So happy Sierra Nevada opened a brewery on the East Coast...... and it's still PBR for fishing and working in the yard/garage. If it's gonna be shitty beer, may as well be cheap. (although that's not even "Merican anymore is it?)
I bet they will be forced to give up MillerCoors joint venture and have restrictions on its distribution network so craft beers can still have good access to the market.
i was one for a bit. Prolly the hardest job I ever worked. Excellent tips though. On a college football gameday here in Lincoln you easily make a minimum of $600 cash.
