In the first four games of the season, what has the defense done?

They have allowed only 3 Offensive TD's in the first four games.

Shutout the hated Pats out of the endzone

Held off the high powered Saints for almost 3 1/2 Quarters from the endzone

Tons of pressure on the QB's

Forced a fumble on a run by Reggie Bush & converted it into an offensive TD

And twice on 4th down by the Saints near the goal line and fighting for the first down the Jets D prevented them anything positive to happen. No TD & smacked them silly by not allowing them the 1st down marker.

I believe the penalty marker on Jenkins doesn't count as a fourth down conversion for the Saints, only because they drew him offsides. I could be wrong, but in my heart the Saints are 0-2 on 4th Down Conversions.

What does this mean? We got ourselves a fabulous Head Coach for the future.

The Jets deserve to be 3-1 & leading the AFC East

I think we can all agree that the D is not the main concern right now. Those guys are tearing it up.

You are right. The running game & the o-line is a problem right now

Yes the D looks awesome...we all need to remember that most people labeled this a rebuilding year. I don't think we are quite good enough to go to bowl as I see 3 teams possibly 4 in the AFC that could beat us but I think once the O gets more consistent we are going to be very good. I could be wrong though and maybe this was just a bad game from Sanchez and he'll play more like week 1 and 2 the rest of the year.

This means we have a great defensive coach for the future. If we can get an offense that can score 20 points constitently, we'll be set. The offense has been extremely modest, and that can not be overlooked. With this weak offense, we will get nowhere fast.

It sort of is though. The Jets Offense isnt dynamic enough at certain positions. I think this team is an offseason/draft draft away.

By rebuild, I think the Jets need to upgrade 2-3 key positions on Offense and depth issues on DL. Plus the fact Sanchez is a rookie really adds a year or two to the Jets elite status.

Ryan has really sped the process up though. He is a damn good coach.

The defense is probably the best in the NFL at the moment, although I guess Denver would argue with that assessment. The Sanchez problems are a classic mixture of rookie mistakes (ball protection and letting the DB's know where the pass is going too early in the progression) and not having enough tools around him or protection for the schemes the Jets are running.

I don't expect Sanchez to improve much on what we've already seen until he gets several more games under his belt to begin to get a real feel for what's going on. Right now he's the bright student who's using intuition to jump ahead in the lessons and he really needs to just sit through them like everybody else has to. Even then he's going to be handicapped by the rest of the personnel on offense. Really the only Jets having a good year on that side of the ball are Cotchery and Mangold. Everybody else is either playing a bit below potential (yes I'm looking at you D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Leon Washington and Dustin Keller) or seems to have either gotten old quicker than you'd think or didn't really have it in the first place.

They did Sack Collins when the Titans came to town. But don't worry there Henne will be eating grass multiple times next week on Monday Night.

All the offense has to do is stay the heck out of the way of the defense and this team will be successful. Who knows what happens but they will be in every game with a chance to win at least. That didnt happen yesterday as the offense (specifically Sanchez) shot themselves in the foot and put the D in a bad spot a few times. That being said I don't see that offensive performance as the norm. Odds are good the offense will be productive enough to give the D some help like in the first 3 games.
