Can you believe the headline?! I like Jason Whitlock, the fat bastard, but I don't think I've ever seen someone go so far out of their way before to defend a football coach. I agree with the premise: lack of talent is more to blame than Herm's coaching. I just KNOW deep in my bones that Herm's been engaging in his own little whisper campaign so that everyone knows that it's Carl's fault and not his. He can't be long for this world. I can't imagine Carl Peterson won't read this and not begin his new coaching search.
The writer seems to want to stir up the pot, but it's undeniable that they are having problems over there. As season timing goes, I cannot think of two better opponents for us to have than Oakland and KC. This is great!
then the Jets shouldn't lose to them. Herm will be a position coach or a college coach at the end of the year.
Actually, the writer here might be on to something about the FO situation in KC. However, I am still sticking with the "Herm Sucks" slogan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://blogs.nfl.com/category/adam-schefter/ When Kansas City opted not to deal tight end Tony Gonzalez, it was not for lack of offers. The Chiefs were engaged in active talks with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers. One team offered as much as a third-round pick; another offered a fourth-round pick; another offered a pick and a player. But ultimately, in the end, Chiefs president Carl Peterson, could not bring himself to trade a player for whom he has a personal affection. Teams tried to pry him loose, but Peterson never could commit to dealing his Pro-Bowl, record-setting tight end. And so while the Lions pulled in a bounty of picks from the Cowboys for wide receiver Roy Williams, the Chiefs opted to hold on to their veteran tight end.
I hope, at least, Herm's wife is having an easier time navigating the streets of Kansas City vs. the spaghetti confusion of NY.
Herm has to be held responsible a bit but this team has a severe lack of talent. The GM has been in charge of a team that has not won a playoff game since Joe Montana was the QB. There's only so much that can be done w/ the loss of talent they have had the past few years combined the lack of bringing in new talent especially at QB and along the OL.
Herm and Bradway were always throwing each other under the bus. Herm's classic excuse was that he didn't have the personnel, although you had to know he had personnel choice after he decided to move Ellis to 3T because they drafted Bryan Thomas that year to be the 'bookend' on the other side of Abraham. This is nothing new. I'm sure it was Carl Peterson's sole idea to bring in Ty Law, right? Nothing is ever Herm's decision or fault. He is the least accountable person in the NFL.
When did herm EVER say he didn't have the personnel? when did herm throw TB under the bus or TB throw Herm under the bus? It never happened.
It took me a while to understand how Herm actually wiggled his way to such favoritism by the fans while he was here. Now it's just funny to see him do the same thing somewhere else.
I wouldn't say Herm has much support from the fans. Also, here's their reaction to the Whitlock Article.
Oh I know, but in fairness to the Jets fan, they didn't have the precedent that the Chiefs fans had with his stay here. The acceptable level of mediocrity is something that really penetrated early once Chiefs fans digested exactly what happened here.
Sounds like the 4-12 Jets under Herm and Bradway. But that's not Herm's fault, right? Only Bradway. *Ha!*
