ESPN - How to identify NFL's best quarterbacks

Pretty interesting article, I'm happy they are trying to improve on how to measure QBs. I was never a big fan of QB rating, but after reading that article I think they are focusing on the right things. After they put all the QBs performances through the new system here are the tiers they came out with.

Part of the reason I like this new stat is because I agree pretty closely with these tiers.

I disagree in only a couple places, and they are really only minor disagreements.

If I were ranking it I would switch Freeman and Roethlisberger. No question Freeman had a great year statistically (against a weak schedule), but I expect him to come back to Earth a little this year.

I would move Cutler up a tier, or possibly even 2 (although I won't deny his game last year was below average, but I do think he is an above average QB).

Eli is borderline 2nd tier, but I do think he is a high quality QB when his receivers aren't dropping passes or batting them right into defenders hands.

Give Bradford some better receivers and I think he'll be above average in no time.

I expect Sanchez to make the leap to above average this year.

What do any of you think about the new system as well as the tiers?

Just noticed there is already a thread about this, but whatever, mine is better!

This has as much to do with the discussion of the tiers as it does the new system.

Jay Cutler is largely above average during a game and then largeley under average during the next game...

And I agree that if Mark was only average in 2010 he should improve significantly in 2011.
