TheJetsStream Manish Mehta Former Jets safety and special teamer going to Pats RT @JamesIhedigbo I'm Officially a New England Patriot!!!!!! #nyj Don't like it... not because of talent (good but repleacable) but because yet another fan favorite becomes a Pat... wonder if he'll make the 53 man roster as the Pats have a number of serviceable DBs.
Of course he went to the Pats. Every ex-Jet goes to the Pats. What does that tell you about the quality of Jets players and the quality of Pats players and the absolute paranoia of Bellishit? Even ESPN of all people got it right when they said every single move they made this off season was to beat the Jets because Bellishit knows he can't.
Well... I think he became one under the Rex regime... Hard worker and hard hitter... that get's the regular fan attention. That said I have high hopes on Cook making the team and taking his place. Also I hope DePalma lays some big hits on the coverage teams on Sunday.
lol I really think Belichick is entering the early stages of senility. he knows can't beat the jets' major offseason moves so he tries to one-up us by picking up our garbage. hilarious.
This move is not a big one for the Pats. It's taking a flyer on a guy at a position where they aren't deep at. He adds value as a good special teams player, so that may be where he would find some action.
Yeah, maybe they won't have send Woodhead to get crushed on punt coverage anymore. Especially in pre season games late in the 4th quarter when they are up by 2 TD's.
ROTOWORLD: Patriots agreed to terms with S James Ihedigbo, formerly of the Jets. Ihedigbo, 27, racked up 11 special teams tackles with New York last season. The Pats would be smart to make sure Ihedigbo doesn't play snaps on defense if he makes the final 53. He struggles badly in both coverage and run support. Did we put on green goggles while evaluating him...?
No need to get upset b/c with the depth chart we have in place there was really no spot for him. Leonhard/Lowery(Not going anywhere as is great on ST and can play corner in a pinch) Smith/poole Maybe there's an outside shot Rex keeps a 5th safety since he loves Db's but does he beat out Cook? Tough to say I take this is a shot in the arm on paper. This says we have such a surplus of talent at certain positions that Ex players are being picked up by our rivals. He's from Spingfield Ma and went to Umass...hard to blame the kid for signing to go back home.
Still, it would be nice if NE put in an offer on him but he decided to go to Buffalo instead. Guy can hit anyway.
