I would adopt the rule from rugby and the CFL that allows the punter to recover his own kick if the opposing team does not field it (like when they decide to let it roll and allow the opposition to pick it up. So, if that punter's team doesn't down it or a returner does not pick it up, the punter and recover it an maintain possession. In the CFL they enforce a 5 yard radius around the returner so he has time to pick it up, in the NFL I don;t think it's quite as necessary...it would just force special teams blockers to actually block.....
I would think that that rule results in punters getting their butts kicked on every punt, so they can't make it down the field to recover their own punt. Graham might like it, but I don't think other punters would.
I would make the Quarterbacks able to get hit without all these stupid Roughing the Passer calls. "Falling with weight on QB, hitting below the knee, colliding with helmet" . If you hit the QB in the right time then it shouldn't matter how you do it.
I would get rid of the automatic first down on any silly penalty in the secondary. What sense does it make on 3rd and 20 to have a 5 yard penalty and an automatic first down? Wouldn't another shot from 3rd and 15 be more suitable? Too many drives get extended by the automatic first down that shouldn't be. If it's a personal foul or pass interference past the chains, yes, but why on a holding 5-yard penalty? They can decide games sometimes, almost happened to us on Sunday but it wasn't called on Miami's last drive.
I would eliminate the horse-collar tackle. I mean, Polamalu getting tackled by his hair creates the same tackling motion as a horse-collar would.
He should cut his hair off or put it in a bun. He puts his hair in a bun off the field. If it doesn't fit that way under his helmet, then shorten it or cut it off. Every time he carries the ball I hope he gets dragged down by his hair.
so has your spelling... but I agree, you have to let the QBs get hit, but also call the cheap shots. Getting hit is part of the game, being a quarterback is part of the game, take a hit.
This league needs to relax a lot of penalty rules. These damn ref's have WAY too much presence in the game. What they should do the most is relax the pass intereference rule like the way it was pre-Colts/Patriots.
I'd make different levels of holding calls. As with facemasks, a minor hld would be 5 yards, and a major hold would be 10.... I'd also stop calling all the stupid ass roughing the passer calls... How can you rough the passer when you sack him?
Eliminate all penalties for taunting, excessive celebration etc. after a touchdown. Let Chad Johnson do what he wants after he scores. It's fun for him, his team, and their fans. If opponents and their fans don't like it, tell them to score themselves. Eliminate punting outside of your own 25.
Good idea for a topic. For me it's a toss-up between the bullshit roughing the passer calls and the nonsense that goes with pass interference.
Bingo. You're exactly right. In the end, sports are supposed to be entertainment. Sharpies, pom-poms, group celebrations, Randy Moss "mooning" the Lambeau crowd, bring them on.
Eliminate fining a guy if he wears the wrong socks ala Clinton Portis..... j/k I actually would say that Offensive Pass Interference should be called more, what Plaxico Burress does to defensive backs is much worse than most defensive PI calls I've seen yet the refs usually allow him to rape defenders w/o a penalty.
