I am thinking the Jets will play Mangold at guard for at least a year, maybe two. As all football heads and players know, it would be very difficult for a rookie center to come into the league and call out blitzers and blocking schemes at the line or scrimmage, he must learn first. I think Teague will play center for us this year and Mangold will play guard, which I am cool with. That being said, which guard, Moore or Kendall sits The quick answer would have to be Moore, but this makes me feel like we will take away from the athleticism, versatility and mobility of our line. If we had Brick/Mangold/Teague/Moore/Jones, we would may be a bit undersized, but we would have speed and agility in our favor to create seems. I am not sure what type of blocking schemes the Jets will choose to employ, nor am I sure that we have the proper RB to pull the guards and center and hit the outside, but the thought is intriguing. What do you guys think? :drunk:
I think Mangold starts at Center from day 1 - that's what I think! Why start him at guard? We have two starting guards who are above average. The Jets are in a rebuilding mode so we can live with his growing pains.
Kendall and Moore are locked starters. If anyone is going to sit, it's going to be Teague or Mangold.
If the team wants Mangold to start the season at G then Teague will be the one sitting and Kendall will be at C.
Mangold will be our starting center GAME 1, if not then why did we draft a center in the first round? You draft linemen in the 1st round to start immediately.
OF COURSE Mangold starts at center - If they want Kendall can make the calls at first.... Insane to even think Mangold moves to guard.. kendall STINKS at Center while he's a pretty good guard and Teague stinks at center...
from what i heard from Randy Lange was that Mangold is a very likely canidate for a guard position in his first year...how many centers come in the league and start successfully right away...I remember hearing of the carolina panthers draft when they took jordan gross and some guy at center, who didnt make it past year one...with that said, I FN LOVE MANGOLD...at the espnzone i was the only one who stood up and applauded the guy, let alone know who he was...haha
Um, I know the Jets were crappy last season, but did you bother to watch the games? Kendall was horrendous at center. If, for whatever reason, Mangold starts at LG (won't happen), then Teague gets dibs on starting C before Kendall does. But this is all pointless. Mangold isn't starting at G unless players go down with injury.
seriously if mangold dont start at center from day 1 im gonna be annoyed.. you use a 1st rd pick on a center you better start him from day 1.
Who cares? He can go back to buffalo if that's how he feels. Teague is the 3rd best center on our roster right now and Kendall isn't good at center.
Yeah, you draft the best C to play Center. You're not going to start him elsewhere and have him learn a position only to get moved next year. We'll have a rookie LT, might as well let them all learn it from the get go. Kendall is a better guard and will stay there. Teague will be a back-up, no more.
This is a pretty silly discussion. We have solid Guards. Why would the Jets take Mangold out of position? That is a good way to screw up his development. Mangold will be a center day one. LT- Brick LG- Kendall C- Mangold RG- Brandon Moore RT- Adrian Jones That is a good line.
