Which RB would you pick? Both would help immediately in a rotation and be our workhorse for the future. Knowshon is an all-around very good runner. He is very elusive and will break some tackles, and can run in between the tackles or outside. He is more quick than fast. Is also a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield. Beanie is more of a downhill bruiser, in between the tackles type of runner, but he has the speed to breakaway for the long one. Not really elusive but he can make a cut or two, and has a great stiff arm. Some injury concerns.
Knowshon 100%. The only thing he lacks is straight line speed so he may not break it loose as often, but he can run every which way, catch the ball, and block. He's also got running instincts like no one I've seen in a long time; he seems to know exactly when to cut and where the holes will form ahead of time. He'll pretty much do anything we need and would compliment Washington well for years to come. I really like Beanie's athletic ability and his body of work, but I just don't think he'll be able to play banged up in the NFL like he was in college. I can acknowledge that he only missed 3 games in school, but his tall running style leaves him open to big hits and I think he's going to pay for it in the long run, espicially since he always seemed to be playing with some sort of ailment. He's also not much of a threat out of the backfield and with our iffy receiving corps, I'd rather the RB be able to run some routes too. He's definitely more of a bruiser than Knowshon, and I'm not going to say that people supporting Wells are wrong, I just don't believe he's going to hold up in the NFL. That's my opinion though and I could definitely be wrong.
How come nobody on here likes Donald Brown? All I've heard are great things from guys like Casserly, but nobody talks about him like he's an option. There's a chance Knowshon is gone by 17, and if he is, I might like Brown more than Wells.
id rather have Beanie Wells only for the reason that it will give leon a bigger role in the offense, because i see Knowshon as a 3 down back in the NFL, while Beanie i can see more as a compliment to Leon like smash and dash
I love Brown, I see a lot of C Mart in him. I just think his value lies about 10 picks back from ours, while Moreno and Wells' consensus values are probably somewhere ahead of our pick, but the lack of a need for RB ahead of us could let either one fall into our laps. For the record, I'd like Moreno, Brown, and Greene on this team before Wells. Possibly McCoy too. I wouldn't oppose a Wells pick, but like I said above I have some concerns and I think the other 3 are more "sure bets".
I like Brown but not in the first. I'd rather have Moreno over Wells (it's not even close) but the RB I like the most in this draft is LeSean McCoy. 1. Better field vision than Moreno 2. Doesn't have Beanie Wells' injury problems 3. Homer! 4. The guy was hampered with the flu during the Combine and the Pitt Pro Day, so his size, strength and speed are better than thus far advertised in the workouts. Just watch this guy play and you'll know what he can do to opposing defenses. He wasn't even playing behind a good o-line or in a well-run system at Pitt but he was still a beast.
Try to choose between the two. McCoy is too similar to Leon. We need someone that can grind between the tackles.
McCoy will probably be good, but I can't say he is better than the two in this poll. McCoy has better field vision than Moreno? Really? I disagree completely. I like both backs but I am a big OSU fan, and I simply think Wells will compliment LW way better then Moreno would. My vote: Wells.
No way is he around when we pick in the 3rd. I'll take Moreno if he's available. Otherwise, best available defensive player (Davis or Maualuga, most likely) and draft Greene in 2.
Listed size is 5'11", 204lbs. That's ten pounds less than Curtis Martin at the same height with the frame to add it on. As for the Leon comparisons: Hell and no. They don't play the same at all. Can you see Leon anchoring a Wildcat offense with an inside running game? McCoy hits the hole a lot harder than you would expect from someone under 210lbs. I've seen him run over LBs and he can do it without winding up on the sideline like Wells typically would. He's impatient behind his blockers but between Schotty at the top and Tony Richardson at the bottom, the coaching this guy will get can take that right out of him. I'm probably at risk of coming off like TBDF with the praise here but too much like Leon? Are you fucking kidding me?
I was just giving you a hard time. Personally, I would rather have two similar backs who are really good, then try to force the change of pace. Either way, I hope we take a back in the first three rounds.

SEC offenses = spread Big 10 offenses = pro style For the most part Big 10 RBs are smashmouth guys that can grind inbetween the tackles and be workhorses for an NFL team. Examples of Big 10 RBs from current and recent years include: Beanie Wells, Evan Royster, Javon Ringer, Shonn Greene, Kory Sheets, Rashard Mendenhall, Marion Barber, Lawrence Maroney (good when healthy).
