I personally take Acho, bt I feel he can be a great edge rusher, since thats the bigger need thats what I would do. plus if all 3 safeties are available, a good chance one of them fall to round 5. But I personally love Deunta Williams, and I think if Mcdaniel were to get in Rex's system, he could do great things...
It would definitely be between McDaniel and Acho, as I have zero interest in either Williams or Sands. I don't think either are good fits/prospects for the Jets. The Jets need a coverage S. That definitely isn't Sands, and his hands aren't very good either. Williams is just incredibly overrated by some on this board, and I don't think that good, plus he is more of a zone coverage guy, not man-to-man.
Overrated? It's the fourth round. Deunta Williams was the top rated safety in this class before he broke his leg. Would it be scary having two NYJ safeties coming back from leg injuries? Yes, but Williams has tons of a talent. He'll be a great matchup against tight ends in this league. It looks like we'll be in a great position to grab a safety soon, but if Sam Acho is there...pull the trigger.
Isn't McDaniels too slow to cover guys man to man? I'd go with Acho if all are available followed by Deunta out of these 4. Watching the predraft show on NFL Network, Butch Davis did not even mention Williams as someone he thought from UNC who would get drafted today (mentioned about 5 others). Strange he forgot about him
I'd probably rank them Acho, Williams, McDaniel, and then "Bobert" Sands. I gotta admit, it would be pretty hard to pass on someone named Bobert however.
Down goes acho!!! Gotta say im kinda happy about this. Never really liked him as a prospect. Just seema way to stiff when turning the corner
Sands, because it would be cool if we had a guy named Bobby Sands, but in all seriousness we need some safety help, losing Leonhard hurt last year
The chiefs jags browns are all in front of us and have a strong possibility of taking a safety. Should be interesting. Im going to say 90% chance chiefs take a safety
Sorry, I gotta disagree. A number of teams need safeties and ALL those kids have dropped like rocks. This was said to be a weak draft for Safeties, and it is. Evidently Rex and the other 32 clubs didn't think too highly of these Safety prospects aside from Moore, Jarret and Conte.
I just dont understand how 3 months ago McDaniels and Williams were late first to early 2nd talents and now could go undrafted. Its really just crazy.
That's because the guys making them that high a pick were not employed by NFL teams. They're self appointed "experts".
