How big of a victory would it be for the franchise? Considering in the scheme of things it only hurts our draft position, it's a tough call. Because on the other hand, it would be the greatest upset ever, and when you consider the relationship between the two teams, it takes everything to the next level. So I guess it's got to be up there. Thoughts?
Why even start his thread? We got swept by the f***ing Bills, we aren't going to do anything in this game. Hell, I donated my $100 in my bet with zoostation over a month ago.
Not really that big... It'll be a HUGE loss for the Pats franchise, but for us? Just the 4th and final win in a 4-12 season.... Maybe the fans will look back at it for bragging rights, but, in the grand scheme of things, it won't benefit the franchise... Other than Miami beating the 85 Bears, how many of the teams that ended undefeated seasons can you name? And even if you can name them all, how many do you care about?
It would clearly be their biggest win ever as far as regular season games with no playoff implications for the Jets. Under that criteria, their biggest win would be the 1988 season finale which kept the Giants from making the playoffs.
That's a point. But there's a 24.5 point spread for this one, and the fans and coaches hate each other. I think that matters.
To the fans, not the franchise.... In fact, other than instill a little confidence in a bad team (see how much that benefited Baltimore after last week), it will not help the team itself...
At this point, although its not impossible, I can't even imagine us winning this game. Think there'd be some fights in the stands?
A Jets win would be recognized as much as the Dolphins victory over the Bears in 1985. I would go so far as to say it would even be more memorable due to the destruction the Patriots have delivered this season and the level of the Jets-Patriots feud. The reason why the Steelers win over the 15-1 49ers in 1984 is not talked about much, is because it came early in the year. Ditto 1998 Vikings. They lost their one game on 11/1.
I believe the 1985 Bears' loss to Miami is more remembered because it was the Dolphins, savoring the legacy of the '72 team.... I really don't think us beating New England will be widely considered a big deal past the end of next season (once a new Champion is crowned)
I'd agree with you if the Patriots were winning their games 27-24 every week. However, they are dominating teams and are close to setting all sorts of records. If they go 18-1 and run roughshod over their playoff opponents but the "1" comes on Sunday against the Jets, it'll be a very, very notable game in league annals.
To the original poster, us beating NE would not be the biggest upset in NFL history. Us losing to NE then having the 0-14 Dolphins beat them would be the biggest upset in NFL history with about a 29 point spread in favor of NE.
Dude, we can't get fans into our own stadium, you think there's going to be any green and white in Foxboro?
Good point. It'd be very nice to be one of the few in the event of a win though. That would be the pinnacle. How would you like to spend a night in jail in New England decked out in Jets gear after the Jets ruined the Pats perfect season?
If the Jets win Sunday, I will take a shit on the desk of the Patriots fan in my office first thing Monday morning and take a photo of the end result to post on here.
If we win this week we'll get props from Phin fans for preserving there undefeated season (maybe) and we'll hear about how the Pats lost the game, no so much about how the Jets won it. We'll hear that the Pats are no longer the invincible juggernaut that they were at one point perceived to be. Then we'll start hearing about how the undefeated talk was distracting to the Pats and now they can focus on just playing football. It will be all about how they respond coming off a loss to the lowly Jets. Fortunately talk of Dallas would probably increase and the Pats chatter would get toned down a bit. Jets fans would act like they won the Super Bowl while Pats fans will talk about how they'll probably really win it. And they'll throw in our face the fact that every time we win a game we further cement the already high probability that they'll draft before us.
