I do not like where this is headed, consider the following: Offense: We have no speed at RB Ducasse is a bust and we just doubled down that mistake by illogically giving Hunter $2.5M WR is a major, major issue Sanchez is in the bottom 5 in completion percentage and had only 2 pass plays greater than 40 yards last year. Defense: We genererate ZERO consistent pass rush, zero 3 of 4 LBs underachieve We have not one starting calibar S There is no logical reason why Lowery was traded, not one The draft history the last 3 years has been skeptical at best. It's looking more and more likely we will finish 3rd in the AFC east and not make the playoffs. Does that spell the end of Rex and Mike T?
We dont even know what our team will look like yet.Let free agency play out, and the draft, and the season before you put us in 3rd place.
Do the laws of business just mean absolutely nothing to you people? Where do you come from honestly? 2 AFCCG's in past 4 years isn't enough to keep the money men where they're sitting? Who raised you?
This is the millionth time ive said. We WILL NOT enter the 2013 season, THE YEAR WE HOST THE SUPER BOWL with a new headcoach. No chance, it wouldnt make sense. Rex has got 2 seasons to make a splash, not 1.
They'll survive until the higher-ups realize that they need a complete system overhaul. This rebuild is not going to be an easy one because a lot of our best players are currently sitting in the prime of their careers. It's not going to be easy, or make much sense to us, so either it's all in with the guys we have for the next two years or so, or we just give up and tear it all down.
Well the Jets are in a tough spot here...a team with clearly declining talent and atm no real means to upgrade. Unless something silly like a 2 or 3 win season happens I can't imagine a scenario where they're BOTH fired. Maybe Tanny is on a shorter leash because his decisions directly affect the owner's bottom line.
I don't think changing coaches every 3 years and GM's every 7 years is a good way to build a consistently good franchise. Sometimes you have to let things play out longer and let people learn from there mistakes. I really think Rex has the smarts and the desire to be a very good coach. Tannenbaum has made some weird decisions but all GM's have fuck-ups. He's done some really good things for us as well and helped build a solid core of young players. I'd let this play out for a bit even if they missed the playoffs this year.
Woody is in love with Rex, people need to chill with this talk. As long as Rex shuts his mouth now hes got a few years. We only went 8-8, not 4-12.
I won't argue anything offensively, but defensively, we finish in the top 5 every year despite having 'slow LB' 'bad safeties' and 'negative pass rush'. Rex can put a bunch of retards back there and we'd still be a top defense. Last 3 drafts: Wilson, Wilkerson, McKnight, Conner, Kerley, Sanchez, Greene, Slauson. Admittedly there are no 'stars' here, but everyone of those players is a significant contributor now, or have shown flashes they will be as they mature. I hardly call those 3 drafts 'skeptical at best'
You make us sound more like a 3 win team than an 8 win team. It's rather odd timing to summarize a team by its holes on the first day of free agency and before the draft.
I'd say yes. And I see nothing wrong with changing coaches again if there are obvious signs that the team has been steadily declining since the last regime change. Although next time Tannenbaum should be given the boot as well, as he's been getting a free pass for way too long. This is going to be a make it or break it year for both Rex and Tanny, especially considering the latest $40M investment in Sanchez.
We were completely and thoroughly average. We beat bad teams, we lost to good teams. We had a disastrous mess of a locker room and still managed to win 8 games. We had a trainwreck of an offensive system that didn't match the philosophies of the head coach and still won 8 games. The O-line was average, rather than elite, and exposed our below average to average quarterback, who still managed to improve in every statistical category from the year before. The pass rush was weak, but the scheme got us to exactly the league average (17th) in sacks. The defense was still top 10, despite not having any safeties, thanks to elite cornerback play. See, I can take the same information more or less, and have it sound completely differently.
