Could and will the Jets make a realistic offer to him?

Only concern is obviously his health issues otherwise the Colts wouldn't have been in a position for the #1 pick and Andrew Luck.

But I don't see how you can pass up Manning if his health issues check out and can play for 3-4 years

    Thoughts?

This team can still compete for a championship. If Manning is available, you have to take him.

There are like 700 Peyton Manning threads. I am in favor of filtering the words Peyton and Manning from the Jets forum.

I still maintain it's entirely up to Woody. If he's over Sanchez, wants Manning and/or thinks about maximum PSL sales, he'll take a shot if he's available. Rex and Tanny really will have little to no say.

If Sanchez is his boy, he won't go for him.

Manning would be a free agent which is interesting....he could choose where to go like Asomougha. I think the Jets have to take a look at him.

Getting Manning would set this team back in the long run. Not worth it.

Oh I'm full aware of that but if it means winning 1 superbowl something we haven't done since the 60's for crying out loud you have to do it. I would not trade for him as it would cost a boatload of picks and players. Him with this defense (which would make the D completely happy) would be insane.

    Trade for him ?

The Colts would have to pick up his MASSIVE option, then a team would have to pick up the massive contract, both for a player who is coming off of a very serious neck surgery that would leave many guys unable to play.

Truthfully unless the Colts are planning on starting Manning and benching luck, theres a realistic possibility that he gets released outright, then the bidding wars begin from teams with no QBs.

Im not in favor of Manning esp due to his age and health. However trading Manning for Holmes I would prob consider...

See this is just a bad thing all around. The likely hood that Manning would come here and light things up is not good. He has had some serious surgeries to his neck, that is scary. He is getting up there in years as well.

It could be a great deal if he came here and won a SB for us, that is far from a sure thing though.

It could ultimately lead to the perfect storm that would severely set us back for our future endeavors. I just don't think it would be a good situation.

let's put it this way. I don't want them to trade for or sign him. but at the same time if we do, I won't get pissed off.

WAHHHH WE SIGNED PEYTON MANNING!!!!!! THIS IS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED, FIRE TANNY!!!!!!!!!!

He would become a FA though if the Colts decide to move on from him.

They have till the start of March to make their decision. If they keep him after that date, they will not trade him, I can't see it. The Colts will literally eat the biggest part of his contract, regardless if he is traded or released after that date. I don't know the exact numbers, but I did read that little factoid not to long ago. They have the option to opt out of the contract before that date.

So if the Colts are going to move on from Manning, he likely will need to be released so they don't have to eat all of that money. Which would make him a free agent.

I would rather see Flynn. Backload his contract and make him work for it. I firmly believe Sanchez won't mount to shit regardless who the OC is. The guy is a mental fuck up on the field.

Manning would be a free agent, unless the Colts pay him 28 million only to trade him, which wouldnt make sence.

Theirs just no way in hell Andrew Luck sits on the bench for 3 years, thats hard to imagine.

If Manning hits the free agent market, a number of teams will be interested. I see very little that suggests that the Jets would be his most desired team to play for.

Why not? which championship caliber teams need a QB? Its really between the Jets and the 49ers. No other championship caliber team, needs a QB.

We would be among the best teams he could play for. I'd say we have an advantage over mostly every team that could want a QB.
