if Mawae signs with another team, do we get a comp pick next year?

Are you sure about that? As far as I know, any player you lose without compensation has the potential to yield a pick.

Ferguson wasn't cut. The Jets chose not to try to resign him. His contract was expired.

You get compensatory picks for free agents that sign elsewhere. I'm not sure if it matters whether they are RFA's or not though.

If we traded Mawae it would have been for a late second day pick. It would have been nice, but if he pissed off the right people, they wouldn't give a damn about the pick.

    Not true.

The Jets tried to re-sign Ferguson, but he found a better deal in Dallas.

    The Jets wanted him back.

You don't get a pick for a guy you cut. No compensation for Mawae or Ty Law.

Difference is, that the Jets Chose to lose him forfeiting any compensation that could have been had via trade.

You'll get no Supp picks for him next season, regardless of what me makes or how much he plays.

We needed him back. Dallas is wasting away his talent by not playing him that much this year. While we could of used him a whole lot. Just flat out bullshit.

Getting a draft pick for cutting a player just doesn't make any sense. If that were the case, you would see teams cutting players by the handful all the time and stocking up on draft picks. Hell, we cut sowell and fabini too. Do you really think we're getting two extra picks for them too?
