If we lose Feely, who do you think we pursue with a creative deal where year one has to match what Feely got and then the remaining years have to be played with.

Would it be Sharper or someone else that is out there?

    Thoughts

Only person I'm aware of at the moment would be Sharper. New Orleans has made it public that Sharper is demanding too much money. Hopefully Feely signs around the 1.5mill area.

If Sharper is demanding too much money, then I doubt we'll be able to sign him to a UFA contract for only slightly more than we signed Pool for - $1.3mil.

Ah damn yeah I know we got rid of one or two other players, but forgot you cannot stack the contracts together. stupid rule.

I'd love to see Sharper land here on a one year deal. Having Sharper and Poole along with Smith and Ihedibo, you don't need to focus on the safety position at all in this draft, leaving us to shore up more important areas like OL, DL, DE and CB.

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with the premise of this thread.

First of all Sharper is a pipe dream. Feely and Sharper's contracts are really in seperate universes and they would have to match up pretty close due to the new CBA rules and that is simply unrealistic.

Second, even if they could sign him I wouldnt want any part of the guy. The guy is highly overrated and has lost a step or two of speed. If you thought Rhodes was a terrible tackler this guy is in that same category and the first time he gets juked or takes a bad angle to a tackle or a ball everyone will be all over him. He is basically a centerfielder who had a few balls drop in his lap last year. Stay away. They are gonna address safety in the draft.

Yes, that's nice, and in a thread not titled 'If Feely signs', it might actually be relevant.

    Actually it does.
Since Feely is our highest priced FA out there some are hoping we can sign Sharper with the $ from Feely. I'm saying i'd rather have Feely.

I agree that Sharper is a pipe dream, but if he REALLY does want to play for the Jets as he says he does, he may be willing to take less money. The likelihood of that is extremely low though, as he could just take less to play for the team he just won a championship with.

Then here's a thread just for you. It concerns what is happening with Jay Feely. This thread has to do with the FA slot that will open up if Jay Feely is signed by another team. Only takes minimal reading comprehension to figure that one out.

    Daniel Bateman.

We could use the LB depth.

I say we sign Sharper. Feely can easily get about $5mil a yr contract.

Come on, man. No team worth a crap is going to let any agent use the Janikowski contract as precedent for a ridiculous kicker contract.
