Yeah it would be great to win a superbowl but @ the same time, losing ever since 69 is what has made us the type of Jet fans that weare today... Down to earth, full of dreams and hope type of Football fans. I will ALWAYS be proud of my Jets team, no matter what sports bar I'm @ here in St.Pete, no matter what type of fair weather ban-wagon Buc fans im around, I will ALWAYS be proud of the Jets, my teams no matter what. Nothing is like spending time with my older bro watching the games @ his place, getting down on some beer or liquor before and most of the times... after the game, hah, and just talking about the Jets all week long before Sundays. The funny thing is this, my older brother lives about 45 mins away from St.Pete and during the football season, over the past 3 years, Sundays are about the only time we actually HANG out. Over the past 3 years I can count the # of times on my hand where me and my bro havnt watched a Jet game together. Thats something that Im pretty much proud of, as funny as it may sound, the Jets make sure that me and my bro hang out on Sundays... And untill the day I die, I will always remember those times. I actually lived in Florida in 1998 when the Rays became a team, I was about 12 or 13, Im born in Queens though... So I NEVER rooted for ANY FLORIDA team because they were never "My team" The Bucs, Magic, Dolphins, Lightning have always been in Florida since before my family came down here from NY so... I have always hated those teams, and still do. But when the Rays became a team, I just became a die hard fan. Im telling you... Being a Jets, Knicks, and Rays fan has been pretty tough but times are getting better. If the Rays fail to make the playoffs and the Yankees are in it... Thats my team, before the Rays I grew up a Yankee fan because of my brother and I will always root for them deep down inside unless they are playing the Rays. But to make a long story short... No team...not the Knicks, Rays, Rangers, No team can even mean as much as the Jets do to me as a sports fan. But I wont lie, I have always loved the baseball seasons the most because you have 5 starting pitchers and every night you dont know what to expect other than an exciting game We have some of the best fans on these message boards, and I really think our time is about to come with the type of team Mangini is building.
Although in general terms i will always be proud to be a Jets fan if they go 1-15 this season and the players play nowhere to there potential i wont be proud of the team. If i see that there not putting in 100% i wont be proud of the team, if players are making errors and errors that they shouldn't make, i wont be proud of this team. In general terms, if they try there best, play to there abilities i will be proud of the team.
I'll cheer for them and keep up the shit talking, but I've gotta see them at least being competitive to feel proud of them. Last season was especially painful...
Why do you always make posts justifying your "fanhood"? We get it. You love the Jets and hate every other team in Florida, except the Rays who happen to be the hot team in the MLB right now.
I have always been proud of the Jets. But every once in a while they embarass me a little. Being the only Jets fan in my family, last Thanksgiving was kind of embarassing for me. It may be the worst performance I have ever seen from the Jets. But by the next week I was proud and anxious to watch them again.
Because basically there is absolutely nothing regarding the Jets to really talk about now. I havent' seen a good post in ages. They're all pretty much nonsense with people just wanting to say something to deal with the boredom. Besides, it's not even possible to root for the Jets and Rays. You need to root for the Bucaneers and Rays or the Jets and Yankees (or Mets). :metal:
Being a Jets fan fits my personality and my upbringing. Being proud of stabbing myself in the face because of it, I'll have to think about it.
pre-emptive "we'll see how you feel after 40 years and no championships, and all of our starting players are 2nd tier" I love this team, they give me great joy watching them on sundays. They also give me great pains watching them on sundays. Lack of championships does bother me but in the end it is only a game. I don't get too messed up over it and stake the very foundation of my being to our teams successes or lack thereof. Just have good times watching the game with friends and being a fan of this team.
The Jets aren't perennial pieces of garbage like other teams in the NFL where every year is an automatic last-place year. The Jets always have the potential to win 8+ games every year, no matter what the predictions say. Thats why leaving the Jets is impossible- every year is a huge guess as to how they are going to do, unlike say the Bills or Raiders or Cardinals. The uncertainty makes them so exciting. Yet, knowing that they aren't going to come through in the clutch is certain, yet most of the time its never seen coming.
I think you have to live a pretty pathetic and miserable existence if you are proud when someone you don't know and have had no effect on whatsoever does his job and does it well. Root for the Jets, be happy when they win, curse when they lose, etc. but get a fucking life already. You didn't raise these guys from pups.
H'mm I was especially proud of the NYJs after 01/12/69 because they were WORLD CHAMPIONs. Now it is over 39 years since that most wonderful day & since that day they have been LOSERs. Are you telling us you are proud that the team you are rooting for has won NOTHING, ZERO, ZIP in those past 39 years?
Im proud to be a Jet fan and Disgusted with the Jet Teams over the years! The glass is half full or empty depending on what day you ask me!
Your wrong tough guy, I also root for the Seminoles And its the offseason you... (Nevermind, I dont wanna get "Banned") "We get it" Your a mod that has power over the Jet fans on this site, who also feels that you are better than fans like myslef with your little tough guy posts, I guess your just trying to "justify" your "Modhood" Does this post remind you of "Someone"? Take a look in the mirror "I get it"... You love being a Mod and cant stand posters like myself who just have a blast on this site and could care less what type of negative people have to say in life, like yourself.
I can always tell when someone is going to have a short TGG lifespan by their use of the phrase 'tough guy'. I don't know what it is about those two little words.
I won't be really proud of my Jets fanyness until I get to set a car on fire during a SB victory parade.
