I hooked it up to my DIrect tv receiver,,,,,and can now watch anything and everything outside,,,,,,simply amazing. If any of you are like me and were on the fence with this,,,do it ! Wife and kids love it,,,,,so do I !
We watched Yankees beat the Red Sox last nite,,,then me and wifey watched a movie. 2 nights ago the wife invited friends over and they all watched big brother . Sunday and Monday night football games will be watched outside weather permitting !

Sounds intriguing but my backyard is not good for this type of thing. Congrats on your new purchase CBG.

    This is really cool!
Taking it a step further... Why not just use projector inside, use a wall instead of TV? Seriously, most of the convenience things like recording or pause are at the receiver. TV in actuality is just another projector. DVD, PS3, etc can be routed through receiver also...
I smell home entertainment revolution... Gotta paint the wall white though

What brand/model projector? This seems like the perfect backyard appliance.

I don't know if you'll get HD quality on a wall. My kids used to have a projector when they were little and they used it all the time on the ceiling or walls of their bedrooms, but the pic quality wasn't great.

Yeah, the nature of a projector is size and distance, and both diffuse the light and degrade image quality. I'm sure some day they will produce projectors with laser quality that can create the current level of HD picture, but by then we will have TVs that can produce near-reality image level.

Edit: The real future in projection is holographic fully 3 dimensional imagery.

I bought a view sonic 5533w wxga go check out the reviews. I did not want to go for my lungs, some of these are so expensive but this one cost less than $500 and got really good write ups. The picture is like watching tv,,,I ran a cat 5 cable from my direct tv receiver to the projector outside ( not hard for me as I am handy that way ) the wire runs under my deck can't see it or trip on it. I also purchased a set of wireless transmitters ( one transmits ,one receives ) the set coast about 50 dollars , I put one by my tv receiver ( living room ) and the other by my stereo receiver ( kitchen ) and now my outside rock speakers that worked for my stereo work for this,,sounds great !
My kid was haunting me for one of those inflatable screens but they take up alot of room and I read that sometimes the blower motor goes so instead I bought a " camp chef projector screen " go check them out they assemble in like 10 minutes and there are videos on YouTube .i bought an 120 inch screen but they one as big as 144 inch, the screen can be used in the grass but mine is setup right on my deck. Here's the thing , the screen arrived a few days after the projector so the first nite I set it up while wife and kids were out and projected it right onto the side of my neighbors house( about 40 feet away ) started watching a kiss concert I had tivoed a while ago,,picture took up the whole side of the house looked great,,wife and kids were bugging out when they got home ! Last nite i watched yanks beat the Red Sox,,this time on my screen ,,lol. The wife had a big brother party the other nite .
It's not exactly cheap but it is awesome,,and so far everyone ( friends family coworkers and my family ) love it ! If I figure out how to post a picture I will do it!

Upload the pics to a photo site like photobucket then copy the link to share IMGs and just drop it into a reply.

No, the real future would be if you could sense the objects projected. Something like direct communication of sense into the brain... Whole new level to porn ;)

Yeah man. And it could also report our brain functions back to the NSA so they could pretty much own every fiber of our being. That would be rad.

Upload the picture. When it's in your library, click on the photo. On the right hand side, there will be something that says "Share Links to this Photo".

The fourth link down should be IMG.

Click on THAT link, copy it, then paste it in a reply here.
