...I'm gonna pat myself on the back. Turns out I was delightfully and gloriously wrong about the parameters involved, but my general message was on point. Last week I think some posters were considering hari kari, and now we're a game away from the playoffs. This is a great thing. And I post only to remind people (and yeah, I know it's going unheeded) that things change. There is no point in completely flipping your shit over one bad move, or tough loss. Chill out. Because you never know when things will improve. We may get our asses kicked next week and we may destroy the Bengals, but either way, just remember that it doesn't take much to completely transform the mood of a fanbase.
It's been a hell of a ride for us this year. We started out on a surprising high, only to come crashing back down to earth. Then it's been an up and down struggle since then. Getting in the playoffs would be a great finish to this season, but not entirely necessary. What it would do is give our rookie QB some experience at that next level and for that it would be great. I don't have huge expectations, and beating the Bengals will be a tough assignment as it is. Good to see this team not quitting and fighting through it though.
First, I am not a Darksider....but the question is.... if we play well as we did today (Sanchez was respectable game manager, nothing too "out there"), but the question really is how do we match up against the Bengals.....hate to look over them, but they have had a pretty consistent and successful campaign this year.......thoughts?
you quoted yourself based on the discussion with me. heck yeah i was pissed, disappointed, season seemed gloomy. SOOO MANY things happened, for the Jets to be where they are today and I'll be the first to say that you were right about your statement if the Jets beat the Bengals next week to get in the playoffs. I am a man of my word, and I'll admit things when I'm proven wrong. I however still stand by what I said about the Jets constantly having given the Jets fans allll the hope in the world(today), and then take it away from us (possibly next week). Your post is still very premature. I still hope that you're right and the Jets make the playoffs. I also need to be a Japanese samurai to perform a harikari, and I'm not. I also need a sword, and a master to slice me, and I don't have those. edit: oh yea, and your name still sucks. haha.
I deserve a pat on the back too. Two months ago, I predicted that I would be drunk right now. Nailed it.
Begnals do have the 4th ranked run D, but they already have the division cinched. What is their motivation? Revis will neutralize 85, leaving the X-factor to Lav Coles. The Bengals will run a lot (Benson will have 80-100 yards) setting up play-action which Coles always thrives off of. Unlike the rest of the team, he might have some personal point to prove to the Jets and their fans. This isn't a game the Jets can just win with defense. BS can't abandon the run. Sanchez can't be forced into a position where he has to make dangerous throws. Run often, even if at first ineffective, eventually it will open up as their defenses softens. If Sanchez has to make more than 25 throws, the Jets will lose.
your OP was in reference to this thread no? http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=51929 so i think it had to do with me unless you had the same discussion with someone else. be it not, it doesn't matter. i wasn't taking anything personal, and was even slightly joking by poking fun at your name and about harikari. Sorry if those things didn't get through to you. i should've used happy face emoticons. I'm not good with that. Your point was exactly that moods in these forums change, and you told me that the mood here will be different in a month for the better. I'm just telling you that showboating yourself in a self-appreciation thread may have been premature because this place can come crashing down next Sunday @11:30PM. STILL, I pray to God that the Jets WIN so you can actually showboat, and I'll shut up. Any further discussion of this is pointless.
If the sky falls next week, it will only further prove my point. Reacting too strongly in one direction or the other is foolish due to the incredibly quick mood changes we experience. I guess it seems like I'm showboating but that wasn't my intention; I just wanted to point out that in the future we shouldn't be anywhere near the ledge, or conversely, bouncing on the ceiling as readily as we seem to.
I was the one who started the damage control last week against Atlanta, saying there's a good chance we could still get in even with that loss. *pats self on back* Damn, I'm cool.
