Shonn Greene needs to be made the feature back next season, that is if LT is back with us. I know all about LT's experience, I think he was a great asset this season, but I think the coaching staff had a loyalty to him this year to a bit of a fault. Greene is a bruising RB that punishes defenses and wears them down, he needs to be touching that ball a LOT more than he did this season.

And I am sure someone has touched on this a number of times already, I just can't stomach reading through the misery, but why the fuck is LT running the rock on 4th and 1 after:

Greene already converted a 4th and 1 earlier in the drive
    and
Greene nearly crushed Ryan Clark's sternum on his 16/17 yd run, also earlier in the drive
    and
was the more effective of the two the entire fucking game

But yeah I agree with your original point

LT had a fantastic season but he should be a 3rd down specialist. They far overused him this season. And you guys are right. On the goal line, you had to go to Greene. LT is good when he can jump over the pile. Way the Steelers were rushing, he was never gonna be able to do that.

I agree. Greene has been a bruiser when it comes to getting a few needed yards. Shotty missed that one big time. Not once but a few times.

LT is great on goaline situations. I was shocked he didnt even attempt to leap on that play. His experience proved invaluable this year. I hope we bring him back for another year.

Completely agree. I thought his only purpose on that 4th and 1 was to jump the pile and he didn't even do that. WTF

We could have Jim Brown at RB and still have the same results because Schotty calls every run play right up the middle into the teeth of the defense.

Haha, good point. Even Menndenhal wasn't running right up the gut.

This was all year bro. Sweep and off tackle was NOT in our playbook.

I think where the OC was coming from was from the old Chargers LT perspective. He's the guy we would hand the ball over, and he'd take care of business for us.

Of course, at the goal line, there was no one better then LT a couple of years back, but as much as I love LT, he's not that same dude anymore.

Handing it off to Greene was what made sense. I got nervous when I saw my boy lined up, and sadly, he didn't get it done.

Greene should have been in there on the 2nd and goal drive in the second half. That's on Schotty. Greene needs to be our power back. I love LT he's a great player and a great Jet but, he's a finesse guy and should be a specialist rusher.

Sometimes I feel like I'm watching the wrong game or suffering from some kind of dementia. I could've sworn LT wasn't getting crap done for most of that game & Greene was running hard, gaining positive yardage, screaming & looked ready to fight for every yard.

LT is the better receiver & great on 3rd down where D needs to respect run & pass. Why is he in there to slam the ball into that Steeler D when he couldn't do that for the whole damn game prior to that play. Did nobody on the coaching staff recognize Greene was more productive?

    ==
No more LT next season. He'd make a great 3rd down back but it seems Schotty wants him to be the feature back for all clutch offensive plays which is just crazy. Can this coaching staff please stop looking at the old LT & make decisions based on LT this season.

I'm okay with giving Shonn Greene the lead next year, but I have to say - the way the Jets have broken up the running duties in both 2009 and 2010 seems to have been pretty effective. LT and Greene weren't too far off in total carries or yards per carry. LT came out of the gate faster than Shonn Greene. And if the idea is to have a bruiser fresh for the post-December run into the playoffs, it seems to have worked out okay. I can pick a play here or a play there where I think the wrong guy was carrying the ball, but the strategy behind how they were used this season I can't quibble with all that much.
