Chad, Man, he was/is such a cool optimistic dude. I love how pumped he gets when he's on the field. And he just seems to be a real, nice guy. I'd love it if he could make a comeback. . .
I don't feel too bad for Chad, 2 years ago he was the 2nd highest paid player in the league behind Peyton.
Anyone remember what the media had to say about a SF QB who had to have back surgery and was replaced in the line up by a BYU QB named Steve Young? Joe Montana returned, not just for a token comeback, he earned his starting position back. It is possible.
we all fell bad for him, but guess what theres plenty of peoples careers cut short by injury and they dont get to walk away with millions in their pockets for it. its time we start feeling bad for ourselves, the fans, the team and move on. i mean i wish him the best but if he somehow comes back and performs up to par than he should be comeback player of the year.
Not true... How about a guy by the name, Brett Favre??? How much was he getting paid??? You should research before you say a statment like that...
He had his surgery during the winter of 88 and they won the SB in 89. I think Montana had great years in both 89 and 90 after the surgery? On the other hand if you have a chronic bad back and the surgery works I would expect him to play much better. With an arm it is almost impossible to have a better arm after surgery.
Of course it's possible....but one thing is for sure...Pennington is NO Joe Montana, and never will be....
I was thinking that is what led him to getting traded to KC. Didnt he have the surgery after the Leonard Marshall hit in 90?
Phil Simms was a chronically injured QB heading into the 1984 season. He had suffered nagging injuries that limited his play from 1979-1982 and had missed almost all of the 1983 season. Despite that he played 3 full seasons from 1984-1986, leading the Giants deeper into the playoffs each season culminating in their 1986 Super Bowl win. So there is a precedent for a QB overcoming serious recurring injuries and taking his team to a Super Bowl. That said, Chad's injuries have been formidable and poorly handled by himself and the team. He may well be irrepairably damaged goods at this point. The new management team is probably not counting on him for much so anything he gives us is a bonus in my opinion.
When he said he was the 2nd highest player, he was correct. He wasn't talking about the size of the contract, he was talking about annual salary, which Chad had a huge amount because of signing bonuses.
It looks like he actually had the surgery in 86. http://www.sportingnews.com/archives/young/young-montana.html
He came back that year from the surgery. Started the season, got hurt and had surgery, came back to play all in one football season. Remarkable!
