It's time for Shonn Greene to take over as a premiere back. I'm not saying he should be Steven Jackson and carry the entire running load, but as displayed in the championship debacle, he deserves more carries. I don't think he'll see the amount he deserves unless LT is gone.
I hope that Schotty works out how and when to use which one next season. LT has been useful this year and I won't mind seeing him back, just not getting two thirds of the carries.
Or LT can see less carries. LT offers a lot to this team and isn't done yet. Greene still has not mastered the 3rd down back skillset, that's why he isn't the 1A back. I think next year he should at least start games instead of LT. Get the running game going with him first, then bring LT in. I think McKnight will prove himself next TC and will get 100 touches next season.
If LT comes back, he should only be the 3rd down back. Shonn has proven he can run when given the chance. 25+ carries a game for Greene is what I am expecting.
LT should be the third down back and the premier pass catcher out of the backfield. greene needs to see the majority of the carries.
Bingo. It'll likely come down to money, though. I'm still holding out hope for LT's return, but the more I look at the numbers, the more it looks like they'll cut him and pick up a 3rd back late on draft day.
With Greene's durability, 25+ a game is too much. 16 carries a game. McKnight will see time next season.
25+ carries a game and his legs might fall off by December. Maybe you dump LT but you need another back to help carry the load to preserve Greene.
Hmm, I think LT can offer more than that. For me his role should be like that of Leons, who yes was predominantly a 3rd down back but also cam in on 2 and shorts to spread Ds and offer an outlet. But I agree with the other posts, Greene needs the lions share of the carries, and more importantly than that should be named as starter. I'm sure we are going to see ALOT more from someone called McKnight as well next season.
Alright, maybe 25 is a little too much, but my point is I'd much rather see greene in the game considering he is the future HB when LT is not.
That would be an absolutely terrible idea. I don't want Shonn hitting 300 carries next season let alone 400.
Bring him back. Platoon McKnight in there, but split the touches between Greene, McKnight and LT to 50%, 30%, 20%.
LT can be a 3rd down back still and be very good at it, and a change of pace back too. We need a pass catching threat out of the backfield and LT still does that great.LT had 52 receptions this year, only 3 less than the leading receiver.(DK) I have no issue with Greene being the premier back but LT can still contribute.
I will add that Greene did show that he got better a pass catching this season. He made some tough catches over the middle. Its getting there. The breakout year is next year for him and Mark. We should see some awesome results. Screen pass execution needs to get better, but that's for everyone.
I find it extremely annoying that we have such a hard time executing a screen pass. It's a great weapon to have in your arsenal, especially with the type of offense we have.
i dont think i will ever forgive LdT for not, at least, attempting to go over the pile on that fourth and one but i still want him back next year, insurance if mcknight isnt ready
