This team is not as talented as we once thought. If we struggle against bad teams and can't even compete with good ones, then what's the point of even making the playoffs? There is just not that much talent on this defense and we will never dominate anyone with this pathetic offense.

So what is your suggestion? Tank the rest of the way and hope 9-7 is not good enough to make the playoffs?

This is the first time all season we didn't compete. Granted it's a bad time for that to happen, but I don't think it's a good idea to conclude that we can't compete with the good teams after one stinker.

You could feel this one slipping away into a landslide with each awkward mistake cascading onto the next. It was very un-Jet like, and very un-Rex like. It wasn't our day. There's no need to overreact unless it becomes a trend.

What's the point in making the postseason? Someone said something similar last year and we had a great postseason run. I want to see us in the postseason every year. I don't care how we get there.

We clearly need to bring in 2 quality passrushers in the offseason, but let's not throw in the towel just yet at 9-3.

Last year I felt like we had a ton of chemistry that allowed us to play above our abilities. There is something fundamentally wrong with this team.

I don't like the Jets having to probably go the Wild Card route once again, but so be it. The season is not fucked.

    Arizona in Super Bowl

Okay, so they lost in the waning moments. Point is, though, that Arizona got spanked real, real bad twice in December and still got to the Super Bowl.

The team IS talented.. but they are poorly coached on offense, and opposing teams have exposed the Jets defense over the middle where their lack of a good safety or slot corner sticks out like a sore thumb.

Also, they lack discipline and rack up too many penalties and do stupid things at the worst possible times in a game.

Point taken, but they also had a Hall of Fame QB and a very good offensive play caller. The Jets have neither right now.

we haven't beat anybody worth anything this year except the pats early. In fact,we only beat 1 team convincingly,Buffalo. Tonight faced with a real test, the Jets showed they dont belong yet. Even worse, our defense is no where near as tough as they were last year and we dont get to the QB near enough. We won a lot of close games that were way too close last min wins. and they were against teams that suck. Well make the playoffs, and get bounced early.

Good post. I agree. I had a terrible feeling after Folk's missed 53 yard FG, and once Smith committed that pass interference penalty, I thought to myself that this wasn't going to be our night

WSW...its been coming for awhile...I already had a seizure about the offense but this one clearly exposed the defense. They have played the whole season and finally caught the one team they need to beat that exposed Ryan...his system..combined with every weakness the Jets have on defense.

You have 3 guys on the defensive line that are great against the run...because thats where they stay..on the line...when a team passes. They get no movement on the qb. None. There lies the reason they are so good against the run. They are already there.

When that happens, you are forced to bring extra linebackers. That allows other teams to go to their tight ends who are covered by the Dru Colemans of the world. And when sending extra linebackers doesnt work...your screwed...because now you are sending Safeties and CB's.

The Giants beat the PATS in the Superbowl rushing 4 guys. The Jets cant even get 3 yards deep in the backfield with their d line. This should be no surprise to anyone here. The Pats exposed the Jets because they have tight ends and receivers that can cross the field and get open.

The Steelers are a perfect example of a team that does not have that talent...thats why the Jets will be in that game no problem.

This team decided to go into this season after drafting a cb...trading for one...trading for a receiver...and going after an aging lineman who isnt worth a shit (Taylor) knowing full well that like last year, they suck in the front getting to the qb.

Yeah, when Favre threw six touchdowns.

The 1997 Broncos lost at Pittsburgh on December 7. Denver went back to Pittsburgh five weeks later and won.

The 1986 Broncos lost twice by 25 or more points in December, although I don't think they really cared about the finale.

It happens. There have been some Super Bowl teams that suffered nasty losses late in the regular season.

You weren't saying that this time last year. We were 7-7, our coach assumed we were out of the playoffs, then two teams laid down, and we beat them.

There's no reason this team can't get it together. This makes it more difficult, but if we can go on the road and win last year, we can do it this year. It's just disappointing.

I'm sure the Giants felt that same way a couple of years ago when the Cowboys bitch slapped the twice in the regular season. I'm sure they are glad they just gave up and didn't bother making the postseason, nobody was going to beat that undefeated Pats team anyways.

are you seriously contending that if you don't feel like the Jets are the very best team in the league, there simply is no use in them actually playing the games and finding out. I'm assuming then you simply skipped the playoffs last year, because from the looks of the regular season there was no reason for them to make it, they weren't the best team. real shame for you, the playoffs were pretty exciting for the rest of us Jet fans who watched.

Last year teams didn't know how Rex's schemes applied to our personnel... now they do.

That and Pace and Ellis not being 100%.

Last year's team played much better than their regular season record. This year's team is one of the most unimpressive 9-3 teams I've seen. Last year's team had a truly dominant Defense that was hampered by a mistake prone rookie QB. This year's team has a decent Defense (not great) along with an Offense that has played anywhere ranging from terrible to above average.

We keep waiting for this year's Jets to break out and play the way we think they are capable of playing. But maybe they are what they are. Maybe they are just a decent team that's taken advantage of a few breaks and a fairly easy schedule up to this point. Whatever the case, I think that Ryan and the Jets have no business spouting off about Super Bowls after the way they lost this game.
