All in all, i am very psyched with the way that this draft materialized. I think that Vernon is actually our biggest boom or bust pick, but if he pans out i think this is going to be an amazing draft! I LOVE the keller pick, ainge has the potential to be a very good player in time and i love the marcus henry pick. all in all, i am very very pleased!
I like it too. I'd love it more if we walked out of the 4th with Dre Moore... *Edit* ESPN is so gay. They just talked about late round steals, put up a nice little board of names, and only mentioned the QBs...keep pushing the QB is God myth.
I love every pick but our 4th rounder. Gholston's just the man we needed to help our pass rush and Keller's going to be a lot better than people think. With the way he carries himself on the football field, he's going to become a fan favorite. Henry's just the sort of tall, athletic reciever we need to compliment Coles and Cotch and Ainge was my sleeper QB in this draft. I had him #4 behind Ryan, Flacco, and Brohm. Actually, the more I see of Lowery, the more I like the pick. If he can plug in at sefety next to Rhodes and Gholston can make Brady piss his pants like he did in the Super Bowl, along with Revis and Rhodes also in the secondary, we could be picking off passes left and right.
basically, if vernon can be an every down player who can be dominant when he needs to be (aka John Abraham...but much tougher and without the injuries) our d is going to be DOMINANT for years! plus i really believe that dustin keller is going to come in and make an immediate impact.
I liked the draft, but only because we had such a good off-season in general. This is definitely the most exciting year for Jets fans.....we could do big things this year and next.
I'm not all that happy with this draft. I've been weary of Gholston for a while. I'll be thrilled if he lives up to his potential, but I don't see it happening. I'd love for him to prove me wrong though I like Keller as a weapon- I think he has a lot of potential, but I've been through the numerous reasons I don't like the trade to pick him. If the CS has Lowery pencilled in to compete for Elam's S spot, then that's a pick I can live with. I don't like him as a CB prospect though... Ainge is a pick I really liked. Great value where we drafted him, and exactly the kind of player I hoped we'd bring in in case Clemens shows that he doesn't have what it takes. Henry seems like an intriguing pick. I like the size, but I don't know enough about him to really make a judgement. Additionally, no picks were devoted to the OL and no picks were devoted to the DL. Not crazy about it.
Our fans don't know how to be happy. Gholston - Terrific. Only player I wanted besides Chris Long Keller - At first didn't like it, but after seeing his highlights, I'm thoroughly impressed. Lowery - Still don't know much about him yet. Ainge - I like him a lot. Henry - He isn't JMac, and he's 6-4, 'nuff said.
I wanted Dre Moore instead of Dwight Lowery. I didn't like the Gholston pick. He reminds me of Aundray Bruce and that is not a good thing. I hope to soon be very wrong about Gholston. I really like the Dustin Keller selection. I think he's the best threat of any pass receivers in this draft. I don't like the Erik Ainge selection one bit. Elvis Grbac is my all-time #1 whipping boy. Grbac has been out of the league since 2001 and I still make fun of the guy on a regular basis. Ainge is Grbacian. Marcus Henry was a good value pick. If he doesn't work out, it won't crush the Jets. If he works out, then it is great.
Lowrey will be good at safety. Gholston, I'm pretty sure, will be great. I agree with you on everything else.
i have no problem with the jets trading up to get keller. the way the draft was shaping up at that point, there was no guarantee he would have even been around when they picked in the second round. teams were trading picks like crazy this year and i think the jets knew who they wanted and went out and got him. as for lowry, that's the one pick i didn't particularly love. notice, i didn't include him in the initial post. he concerns me as a bit of a reach from a small time school. however, overall there are way more positives here then negatives.
I don't love this draft because to me Ryan was the real impact player to build around. Gholston hopefully is John Abraham who can stay on the field, if he is than he will be a fine pick. Hate that we still don't draft OL men on a regular basis. The Keller pick is obviously a guy they targeted and hopefully he will give the O another demension that helps us put more points on the board. Don't love Ainge, but I don't think the drafted him to start and if he turns into a decent backup nothing wrong with developing a long term No. 2 who knows the system.
Ryan became available for us...when? And thats if you can even get me to buy that Ryan is a franchise player.
I loved the Gholston pick, and the Keller selection is growing on me. I haven't been a huge fan of the day two picks. I would've liked to see us at depth to both our lines with guys like Dre Moore, Rubin, Schuening, Nicks, or add a ILB like Goff.
