The all time NFL Record for combined sacks by both teams in a games was set on Sept 24, 1978. The Packers (8) and the Chargers (10) combined for 18 sacks total. I am predicting that this record will fall this Sunday.
I'd like to see video of those 1978 18 sacks. I bet 7 of them would be roughing the passer penalties today.
I don't think so. I can double digits sacks but the Giants DLine isn't that great. Sam Howell holds the ball for a ridiculous amount of time.

we've allowed 20 sacks which isn't good at all but also not awful. the commanders are the worst with 40 sacks. giants are 2nd with 37, but lots of them were jones fault. tyrod wasn't sacked nearly as much.
It is awful. Bottom 5 in the league. the Jets have played one less game than the majority of teams so you have to look at sacks allowed per game instead of the whole number
Anything is possible, but Andrew Thomas is trending to be back this week, so it won't be as easy to get to Jones (assuming he plays). This would be Thomas' first game of the year, coming off a hamstring injury.
that is true. but we've also faced some good defensive fronts. bills and eagles are both top 5 in sacks per game in the NFL. chiefs are 11th. dallas is 15th. Den and NE are the only 2 teams we faced without a good pass rush. plus zach isn't great at getting out of sacks. I mean not all QBs are but guys liek mahomes, allen, and hurts seem to save their team a bunch. I know hurts got away from like 3-5 would be sacks in the game against us. in the grand scheme of things though, we are allowing 1 sack per game more then the average. The difference between 3rd worst and average is minimal.
i guess my point was we have faced 2 top 5 teams in sacks and the 11th and the 15th. only 2 games did we face bad d-lines (NE and den) and we are only taking 1 sack more per game over the average. not like we are the giants or redskins who have double the amount we have while facing weaker defenses. it's not good by any means but it could be much worse
How did I dismiss their performance? I said their Line isn't that great. It was more a product of Howell who leads the league in sacks taken. How many sacks did they have against the Bills? I'll help you out. It rhymes with HERO.

I don't give a shit if they get a thousand sacks, what I want to see is, the Jets win a game which they're supposed to, that's when I'll know they have turned the corner.
